First session
Clients can expect to be met with with openness, kindness, active listening, and a genuine personality.
Strengths
My counseling style is diverse, open minded, and non-judgmental. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic, and rational-emotive counseling. This allows me to tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
Ideal clients
My ideal client is someone who is ready to pursue therapy with intention, open to growth, willing to embrace change, and prepared to process their emotions, even when it feels uncomfortable. They don’t have to have it all figured out, but they’re willing to show up and do the work. I provide a space that is genuine, respectful, and fully client-centered, where you can feel supported, heard, and empowered throughout your journey.
Treatment methods
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
The therapist and client work together to identify problems and set specific, measurable goals. The therapist gathers information about the client’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors related to their concerns. Clients will learn coping strategies, problem-solving techniques, and emotional regulation skills. Mindfulness and stress management techniques may be incorporated.
Person-centered (Rogerian)
The therapist provides unconditional positive regard, meaning they accept and support the client without judgment. A warm, empathetic, and non-directive approach allows the client to feel safe and understood.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Assists individuals in exploring and processing deep emotional wounds. Strengthens self-awareness and emotional regulation. Encourages new patterns of self-compassion and healthier relationships.
Trauma Informed Care
Build trust through consistent, honest communication. Explain therapeutic processes and gain informed consent for interventions. Recognize the signs of trauma (emotional, physical, behavioral). Avoid re-traumatization by being mindful of language, tone, and therapeutic techniques. Understand how trauma affects brain function, memory, and responses.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
Here’s the core idea in plain terms: you already have skills, strengths, and past successes—therapy helps you notice them and use them more intentionally. Key principles Focus on solutions, not problems Therapy centers on desired outcomes and what’s already working, even in small ways. Future-oriented Emphasis is placed on what life will look like when the concern is improved. Strengths-based Clients are viewed as the experts in their own lives. Brief and efficient Often short-term, with clear goals guiding sessions.
