Maureen Guilfoyle
About
I have been a LCSW for 38 years, providing psychotherapy. I still enjoy seeing people better understanding themselves, and getting to the point where they see more of what they want in their life. Many clients have spoken of my authenticity, which allows them to be comfortable in themselves.
I feel being authentic, which is the only way I chose to be, has allowed people to be comfortable and therefore able to push themselves to accomplish what they feel they need to.
I work to empower people so they can feel more capable in accomplishing their needs and goals.
First session
In the first session we will go over the clients history, to have a better idea of where they come from. And, to also discuss what they want to work on and accomplish in treatment.
Strengths
I have seen many different types of people and circumstances over the years. Therefore, I'm comfortable with most people. I feel being authentic, which is the only way I chose to be, has allowed people to be comfortable and therefore able to push themselves to accomplish what they feel they need to.
Ideal clients
I enjoy woking with Individuals who want to explore their inner workings; the why they are where they are, and being willing to explore different options to get to where they want to end up. Therefore, any life transitions, whether they feel ready or skilled enough. However, knowing it is time and that getting a little help is the smart thing to do.
Treatment methods
Trauma Informed Care
I work with Trauma Survivors to assist in making sense of how those events have affected them, but focusing on how those events are in the past , and how they can move forward.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I assist people feeling lost or stuck, and unable to move forward, to understand why and how to continue on their journey. Whether that be in starting on their new path, or in the final years making sense of their life review.
Interpersonal
Many people are confused with relationships, whether it be romantic, platonic, familial, friends or co-workers. I provide possible explanations, options, boundary issues, and the differences in aggressive, assertive and passive behaviors, so that you can achieve what you want in relationships.
