I provide person-centered individual outpatient treatment to adults with various mental health and/or addictive disorders. I am working towards my PhD in Clinical Sexology and am completing the program to become a Certified Sex Addiction Counselor. My experience also includes vocational/ career counseling, providing expert witness services, working with individuals with disabilities, and working through end-of-life matters older adults as well.
During my initial session, I gather comprehensive psycho-social history from birth to present day. We will discuss family history of mental illness, past and current substance use, any past mental health treatment, current symptoms, and goals you hope to achieve in therapy. I also formulate a diagnosis (if applicable). I will explain the diagnosis and evidenced-based treatment modalities used for treatment.
My greatest strength is establishing rapport with clients using active listening, non-judgement, and unconditional positive regard. In addition, if your needs are outside of my scope of clinical practice, I have access to several experienced clinicians that we can review and refer thereby assisting with continuity of care. I also actively collaborate with other care providers when requested.
Mental illness and addiction do not discriminate. They provide complex difficulties for the patients and their loved ones. I am specializing in treatment for Sex Addiction for either the individual with addiction or their partner. Treatment is not billed under insurance which ensures your privacy. Additional services includes support for fatherless daughters, individuals suffering with depression, trauma, and anxiety. I also offer clinical supervision for individuals with provisional licenses for both Mental Health (LCMHC-A) and Addiction (LCAS-A). Individuals w/ sex disorders and addiction suffer an array of complex problems. The disorder(s) commonly lead to shame, guilt, embarrassment, family problems, and medical problems. Due to stigmatization and judgement, many fear attending in-office outpatient support. My program is geared to ensure privacy while fostering ongoing judgement-free recovery
Integrative approach is a holistic technique exploring the whole person blending elements from different approaches according to the client's needs.
My theoretical orientation is grounded through the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which emphasizes the important role of thinking in how an individuals feels leading to how the individual acts.
