Hi there, Do you feel pulled in a million directions, many times unable to complete tasks? Are you struggling to keep up with life challenges, relationships, work and health? Is it hard to be kind to yourself? I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I have received my Master’s Degree in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University Long Beach. I specialize in supporting individuals facing dual diagnosis related to substance use and mental health, including challenges such as depression, anxiety, stress management, family dynamics, addiction, and overall life management. My approach is compassionate, professional, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. I am fluent in languages: English, Farsi, and Pashto. By utilizing interventions from the Cognitive-behavioral Model, strengths-based approaches, meditation and mindfulness practices. My approach to therapy comes from a holistic and client-centered perspective: focusing on empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard. Living in many communities with different cultural backgrounds, and the experience gained with individuals from diverse backgrounds has enabled me to be more mindful of how cultural aspects can influence one's life. Therefore, I aim to create a safe, trusting space to help overcome issues, and highlight the strengths & growth. Together, during the biggest life transitions we can identify what areas in your life need to improve, and explore the necessary tools and coping skills that best work, to get you back to a more balanced life. We'll use a whole-self approach to address your mind, body and spirit. Life can be easier, fun, and blissful! Clients have described me as thoughtful, compassionate, creative, and reliable with a calming demeanor and a steady strength-based, supportive presence.
We will start with a brief introduction, go over the protocols and the limits of confidentiality, then slowly dive into the specific challenges you are facing. Please understand, it has taken a long time, maybe years to get here, therefore, you will need some time to learn how to manage your situation. This will help to create specific treatment goals, and treatment plan related to what you are experiencing. A tailored plan to work through in the follow-up sessions.
Therapy has highlighted the fact that every individual is very unique and special in their own way, and will need specific tools to face their issues. I will help you to cultivate the inner strengths you have and find the authentic self. In presenting the wellness tools, I will invite you to find life balances that works best through compassion, understanding and a wealth of discovered abilities.
Having 14-years of experience in the field of dual diagnosis, helps me to serve my clients who are experiencing mental health issue, and addiction problems. Cognitive Behavior Therapy (an evidenced based approach), alongside with coping strategies, will help to experience a shift in the negative thinking, and an increase in coping strategies in order to have more control over addiction problems.
In session, we will explore a variety of reasons how/why you have reached the state of mind you are in, then we will analyze life's issues, and what emotions come around for you that leads to anxiety, or sadness.
