I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor. I graduated from Mercer University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. After 5+ years of working in community mental health both at the inpatient and outpatient levels, I have gained invaluable experience working with individuals from multicultural backgrounds and with various severe mental health diagnoses. My clients can see that I am passionate about assisting them in healing their wounds and creating their next chapters in life. Change and growth don’t have to feel scary, because I assist my clients in utilizing their strengths to take back their power! My experience includes treating individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, grief, postpartum, racial issues, trauma, life transitions, relationship conflict, substance abuse, and more. I am currently using EMDR in my practice while I am under consultation for EMDR basic training.
Clients can expect to breathe a sigh of relief by feeling safe and heard in the therapeutic space. I want my clients to feel in control of their treatment by identifying their goals and which issues to address first. Therapy can be difficult, but I want my clients to have a peace of mind knowing that I am passionate about walking alongside them in this journey.
My greatest strength as a therapist is meeting clients where they are at in their journey. Sometimes clients realize they aren't ready to dive into certain issues right away and that's okay! I am empathic, encouraging, and motivating, but I also hold my clients accountable to do the work to reach their desired goals.
I am passionate about meeting individuals where they are at in their journey and offering support to assist in becoming the best version of themselves. I believe in using a collective modality approach of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy to assist in meeting specific needs and goals because I believe that one size doesn't fit all my clients.
Do you feel stuck in the present moment due to past trauma and/or negative beliefs about yourself? Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy helps the brain process and heal from negative memories, thoughts, and feelings. Bilateral stimulation is utilized in EMDR to activate both sides of the brain to process the events that are stuck in the nervous system. EMDR is an effective form of therapy for various forms of abuse, recent incident trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, addiction, pain, and more. I have been utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to assist clients in managing symptoms of anxiety and depression. CBT works well with clients who struggle with irrational thinking patterns, negative thinking patterns, feelings, and/or behaviors to challenge and reframe these thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. CBT offers various skills for clients to add to their toolboxes.
I have been able to utilize Grief Therapy to assist clients in managing their various forms of loss (death, relationships, pets, job, housing, etc). I walk alongside clients and meet them where they are at in their grieving process. Grief has stages, but it also looks different for each individual and I am willing to walk that journey with my clients.
