I am an eclectic therapist who likes to help people recognize the strengths and resources that they already have within themselves. I am especially passionate about helping people heal from past traumas and other adverse experiences. While I have specialized in treating trauma for the past 17 years, I also have a significant amount of experience treating depression, generalized anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, panic attacks, chronic pain, caregiver stress, attachment related difficulties, and dissociation.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

For the first session, I will spend some time getting to know you and what is important to you. We will discuss your goals for therapy, and possible ways that we can go about working on those goals. I will answer questions you may have that will help you determine if this is a good fit for you. I recognize that seeking therapy is not always easy and that it can feel vulnerable to begin this journey. I will meet you where you are at and am open to hearing what may help you feel most comfortable in the therapy environment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been trained in many forms of therapy and am eager to help you learn skills that will help you reach your goals. I genuinely care about each person that I work with and feel honored to be able to walk beside people on their journey.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I love working with people who are motivated to actively work on achieving their therapy goals and who are open to learning techniques to help them along the way.

My treatment methods

EMDR

I have been providing EMDR therapy for over 10 years and am also an EMDR Trainer and Consultant. EMDR is an evidence-based practice for PTSD but is also used to treat many other things including depression, anxiety, addiction and chronic pain.

Mind-body approach

I believe in a holistic approach to therapy and have been trained/certified in a number of modalities that support this including: Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Mindful Self-Compassion, Emotion Code, Heart Math Interventions, Reiki, and Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Attachment-based

I believe that much of what brings people to therapy stems from past experiences that have not been able to be adequately processed at the time they occurred. These experiences often shape our views of ourselves, others, and the world around us. For some, this includes childhood attachment needs not being met and a part of therapy can be working on healing those attachment wounds. Internal Family Systems (IFS) techniques and Attachment-Focused EMDR therapy are a couple of modalities that I find to be particularly helpful with this.

Trauma Informed Care

I have specialized in treating trauma throughout my career as a therapist. In addition to EMDR, other Evidence Based trauma-specific therapies that I am trained in include Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and Skills Training in Affective Interpersonal Regulation (STAIR).

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) is an evidenced-based therapy for the treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and I have found ERP as well as ERP Informed-EMDR to be helpful when working with people with OCD.
