My name is Ericka Morrison. I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (L.P.C.C.) and a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (L.C.A.D.C.). I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Western Kentucky University (WKU). Over the past twenty years, I have worked in various roles within the mental health field. In my counseling practice, I have supported both adults and teenagers facing a wide range of mental health challenges. I provide a safe and supportive environment where my clients feel respected and heard.
In our first session, we will get to know one another and build rapport. We will complete assessments, identify goals, and determine interventions to support you in treatment.
My greatest strength as a provider is my empathy, commitment to helping others heal, and flexibility in adjusting my plans to meet my clients' needs.
I enjoy collaborating with clients who face challenges such as depression, anxiety, substance use, mood disorders, trauma, and personality disorders. I also appreciate motivated clients who are open to change, self-reflection, and dedicated to working hard to achieve their goals.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you reshape your thoughts and improve your emotions. CBT is a short-term, solution-focused approach that addresses a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, substance use, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and more.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) assists clients in managing their emotions and enhancing their interpersonal skills. It incorporates techniques such as mindfulness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation. DBT is particularly beneficial for individuals facing challenges with emotion regulation, as well as those diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, eating disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Christian counseling is a faith-based approach to therapy. Biblical principles are used to address emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. A safe space is created to explore spiritual concerns and issues.
Solution-focused brief therapy is a short-term approach that identifies achievable goals within 5 to 8 sessions. This type of therapy is effective for treating anxiety, depression, family conflict, life transitions, and for those needing coping skills.
