I earned my Master's Degree in Social work from Spring Arbor University. Prior to joining growtherapy, I provided group counseling and advocacy through graduate internships at the Behavioral Health Institute at Mercy St. Charles Hospital and at Advocating Opportunity. My prior experience includes working as a Clinical Therapist at 2 different community mental health agencies, as a Behavioral Health Technician in an inpatient psychiatric unit and as a community educator working with a variety of populations. My therapeutic approach is client centered and uses techniques from a variety of modalities.
During a first session with me you can expect an open conversation of your 'whys' that brought you to therapy. This conversation is a very informal opportunity for us to get to know each other and how you prefer to receive information.
I have worked in many areas of mental health and, in combination with my life experiences, I bring a very eclectic approach to the therapeutic process using a variety of modalities from very traditional to contemporary and new age. I am transparent and genuine and will not ask you to utilize techniques that I have not utilized myself in some form or fashion.
I love working with adults of all ages. Each stage of life brings its own challenges and rewards. The clients with whom I work well are active participants in designing the journey to a life of value. They may feel overwhelmed by their past or worried about their future. Together we will focus on the concept of 'I am, here now' in order to embrace the present.
I have been using this modality informally for years. In 2023, I completed comprehensive training with Steven Harris. I have engaged in extensive research and application of acceptance and commitment therapy in both individual and group settings.
