My ideal client is scared to reach out right now, is scared of being judged, and is nervous that they will get stuck with a therapist who just keeps asking, "And how does that make you feel?".Are you feeling overwhelmed, feeling like you can't breathe, getting tightness in your chest, or worrying a lot? Do you feel hopeless, as if life is never in your favor? Do people not understand your issues or tell you that you’re overreacting? Everything is just fine. Do you have a relationship that is struggling, thinking about divorce, or possibly an affair? Are you working with your identity (gender, shape, image)? Do you feel like everything has to be perfect, or do you feel angry or upset? Do you get stressed and have poor coping skills? If any of this is what you're going through, I can help you get relief.

I understand that life’s challenges can often leave us feeling defeated and, at times, unheard. In the midst of our struggles, it is imperative that we take the time to nurture ourselves and cultivate a compassionate relationship with our own experiences. Acknowledging our feelings and giving ourselves permission to process them is essential for healing. Developing a healthy sense of coping is not just a luxury; it’s a necessity for our emotional and mental well-being. As we navigate through life’s complexities, we must prioritize self-care and self-compassion. This involves recognizing our strengths, celebrating small victories, and allowing ourselves grace during difficult moments. As a dedicated therapist with a passion for fostering mental wellness, I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing, and I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I remain committed to walking alongside them as they discover their strengths and resources while empowering them during their healing journeys.

We are social beings by nature and are simply not meant to struggle alone. I love serving my teen and couples clients via the Gallup strengths test. This test helps individuals understand where their energy is highest and what they value most. It's not about "strengths", but values. I believe one of the best things we can do for ourselves is take the time to truly understand ourselves as this helps us learn to communicate effectively, be productive, overcome procrastination and more. Hi! I’m Sema and I get it. I know that sometimes when you’re going through tough times, it’s hard to talk to people because you don’t feel like people really hear you. At times, others just don’t understand why you’re feeling the way you do so they may try to fix the problem that you don’t really understand yourself. So let me tell you, I am a safe space free of judgment and I hear you. I listen to what you are saying and together we can figure out the problem and talk through it together. We all need someone in our corner who is there for no other reason but to listen and not try to fix the problem but to help you gain the tools needed to cope with difficult situations so that if they return, you are better prepared. I received my LMSW from Wayne State in 2016. Since then, I have worked with clients who experience challenges with mental health, grief/loss, substance abuse, difficult family dynamics, problems with physical health and more. I enjoy helping people identify problems and reframe the thought process by providing the tools and skills needed to become the best version of themselves.

Hi everyone! My name is Amy. Everyone experiences life differently, and at times, trying to figure out how to handle these experiences can become overwhelming. My goal is to provide a warm, welcoming, and safe environment where I can assist you in processing and gaining control of your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, relationships, and lifestyle balance. I empower people to overcome the burden of anxiety. I am interested in working with teenagers and adults. My areas of focus include anxiety, depression, grief, family conflict, behavioral issues, anger management, relationship problems, life transitions, stress management, and behavioral activation/motivation. In session, we will learn to identify how our thinking affects our feelings and actions. My role is to challenge you and teach you how to help yourself. My goal is to give you realistic tools to cope with stressors and form a healthy relationship with yourself and the people in your life. I have over twenty years of experience as a licensed social worker working with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups. I have worked in public schools, community agencies, psychiatric hospitals, and in outpatient therapy. I obtained my bachelors and masters degree in social work from the University of Akron and am a licensed clinical social worker with the State of Pennsylvania and am licensed in Ohio as well.

Hi, I’m Shawn Pedani, a licensed therapist with nearly 20 years of experience helping teens and adults work through anxiety, ADHD, and mood struggles like depression. Many of my clients feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, perfectionism, or worst-case-scenario thinking. Others feel overwhelmed by their emotions—either avoiding them, pushing them down, or feeling completely hijacked by them. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone, and things can get better. In addition to anxiety and ADHD, I work with people struggling with low self-confidence, people-pleasing, grief, and depression. If you feel trapped by self-doubt, constantly trying to meet impossible expectations, or struggling to move forward after a loss, I can help. Together, we’ll get to the root of these patterns and build real, practical strategies to set boundaries, grow your confidence, and live in alignment with what matters to you. Whether it’s school, work, or relationships, these struggles don’t have to run your life. Learning how to navigate emotions—rather than avoiding or battling them—can make a real difference. With the right tools, it’s possible to break out of old patterns, build confidence, and handle stress in a way that feels more manageable. Therapy isn’t about changing who you are—it’s about helping you show up in your life in a way that feels right for you.

Sometimes we feel like things are going well and then we hit a wall out of nowhere. Maybe you’re struggling with anxiety and trying to figure out how to cope with it or the depression is getting worse and you're having a hard time getting out of bed. Please remember, you are not alone. Since the pandemic started in 2020, we’re all working to find our new “normal,” whatever that may look like. I believe in treating the whole person and will gladly help guide you along this path. I am committed to seeing you succeed and live your best life!

As a social worker therapist grounded in mindfulness theory, my dream client embodies a spirit of openness and motivation for change. This individual recognizes the challenges that come with personal growth but approaches therapy with a willingness to explore and confront these difficulties. They appreciate the journey of self-discovery and are eager to gain insights that can lead to meaningful transformation in their life. In our sessions, I envision a collaborative environment where they feel safe to express their thoughts and emotions. They understand that progress may not always be linear, yet they remain committed to the process. This client values the therapeutic relationship and seeks guidance to cultivate greater self-awareness, resilience, and mindfulness in their daily life. What I cherish most about this ideal client is their ability to reflect on their experiences and actively engage in their healing journey. They inspire me with their courage to face discomfort and their desire to learn and grow. Together, we would explore various mindfulness practices and therapeutic techniques, fostering a deep connection that empowers them to embrace change with compassion and patience. Ultimately, my dream client is someone who is not only motivated to seek help but also appreciates the support and insight I can offer. In this partnership, we would work hand in hand to navigate the complexities of their experiences, celebrating each step toward a more fulfilled and mindful existence. This collaborative spirit of growth and understanding is what makes the therapeutic journey profoundly rewarding for both of us.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Ohio rather than a city like Columbus?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Ohio from Cincinnati to Cleveland! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Ohio.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Anxiety?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Anxiety, is filtering therapists in Ohio that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
