Hi there! My name is Jane, and I am a therapist dedicated to helping individuals cope with anxiety, depression, PTSD, family conflict or stressful life changes. Life can bring tough times, and no one should have to navigate the difficult parts alone. I am down-to-earth and completely non-judgmental. I would love to be given the opportunity to hear your story and help you get to a better emotional space.
I hope to give my clients the strength and skills to feel empowered, grounded, and aware of their worth.
I have been told my therapeutic personality is a good mix of approachable, yet challenging. I am client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused in my work. I have also been told that my flair for humor can creep into sessions which is appreciated. I mostly use CBT and DBT techniques, but I am not limited to these. I can offer an unbiased perspective to any stressors you are going through, or, I can be an ear for you to vent to. If interested, I would love to assist you with developing a "toolkit" of coping skills to turn to when you cannot manage your emotions in a healthy way.
I enjoy working with clients of all adult ages who are experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, trauma, and stressful life changes. However, since beginning my solo practice, I have honed 3 niche populations: 1) Individuals who are struggling to manage their responsibilities as spouse, parent, and employee. I can personally relate to the feelings of stress and being generally overwhelmed by having young children, a job, and a partner/household to take care of. It feels impossible to manage it all successfully without sacrificing something. I get this. Lets talk about some different, more effective ways to manage it all while making sure self-care is at the top of the to-do list. 2) Those in the transitional ages of 18-28, who often feel extra stress, confusion, and feelings of being "less than" as their careers are just beginning, they are living on their own for the first time (or trying to), and are unsure of their identities since becoming adults. 3) Lastly, those who have experienced trauma and do not know what to do about it or how it may or may not be impacting everyday functioning. If you are comfortable, I would love to help you navigate your feelings surrounding whatever it is that happened to you so you can hopefully start living your life without a weight on your shoulders.
I love using CBT to help clients identify any inaccurate thoughts or thought patterns that often create significant distress. By using CBT techniques, I can assist clients with replacing these thoughts with more helpful ones so that overall functioning can improve.
DBT is my favorite therapeutic intervention as it consists of many tools for individuals to utilize when feeling overwhelmed, anxious and depressed. Each tool is simple, yet so effective in reducing emotional distress.
