Hey y’all, I’m Nikki Layne, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) with a deep-rooted passion for mental health and well-being, born and raised in Letcher County, Kentucky. With over nine years of experience in the counseling field, I have had the privilege of working in diverse settings, including community mental health facilities, residential and inpatient addiction treatment, and school-based environments. My career began in a community mental health facility, where I spent five years, followed by four years at an inpatient addiction recovery center. This journey inspired me to establish my own practice, Counseling in the Holler, LLC. I specialize in guiding clients through various challenges, including stress and anxiety, LGBTQI+ issues, motivation, self-esteem, addiction, and depression. I am committed to creating a safe and open environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.
In a counseling session, you can expect a confidential, supportive space to discuss your concerns. The first session may take a bit longer, as I will gather background and health information, explain the counseling process, and obtain the necessary signatures on forms. This helps me understand your needs and establish your goals. Follow-up sessions are typically 53-60 minutes and focus on working together to address the issues you want to explore and make progress on. As your counselor, I will guide you through the process, offering tools and strategies for growth. I am passionate about fostering an open and safe environment where clients can share their thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment.
I possess several strengths, including an open-minded approach, empathy, and a deep passion for mental health. I am committed to helping others overcome challenges similar to those I have faced, particularly arising from obstacles and adversities due to limited resources in a rural environment.
My personal experiences with self-identity, anxiety, and depression within a resource-limited rural community fuel my passion for this work. As a proud member of the LGBTQI community, I am especially devoted to supporting individuals from all backgrounds, empowering them to thrive and navigate their unique challenges.
As an eclectic counselor, I draw from various therapeutic approaches, including person-centered therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), and various other approaches. I am dedicated to fostering a welcoming environment where clients feel empowered and in control of their therapeutic journey. By introducing various questions and topics as they arise, I guide you in cultivating new skills and enhancing your self-awareness. This collaborative approach places your unique needs and goals at the heart of our work together, ensuring a truly personalized experience.
