Going through changes and adjustments in life? I would love to be a support to you! My name is Bethany Theodore, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I'm a native Californian living in Pennsyvania currently. Getting used to the cold weather! Adjustments and changes can be so hard. Whether it's adjusting to adulthood and all of the responsibilities that come with that, adjusting to a big change in life such as a move or loss, or possibly you are a new Mother, I would be more than happy to be of support to you through these challenges. Not only do I have personal experiences with lots of changes and adjustments (I am a Mother myself), I have the professional experience to help you. At the beginning of my career in the mental health field I worked with adolescents, families, and young adults in the school system supporting individuals and families with the complex issues that childhood and young adulthood bring. Common issues I have had a lot of experience with are anxiety, depression, self-esteem, anger, academic struggles, ADHD, relationships (friendships, family, or romantic), communication, family dynamics, peer pressure, past trauma, and women's issues. Over the last few years I have expanded my clinical experience to working with all ages of clients with a large variety of issues including post partum depression, childhood trauma, marriage struggles, and grief.
In our first session we will review the intake form, so I will have several questions for you to get to know you better. You are welcome to ask me questions. Who you pick as your therapist is up to you so if you don't feel a connection during our intake session, you are welcome to make an appointment with another therapist who may be a better fit. You should feel comfortable and at ease with your therapist.
Past clients have told me I am an easy going and laid back person that made it easy for them to feel comfortable with opening up to me. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for all of my clients.
I am open to meeting with anyone but I often relate to young women and/or Mothers due to my personal experiences.
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques as an evidence-based treatment for diagnoses including anxiety, depression, and ADHD.
I enjoy implementing Mindfulness practices in my work with clients. I have found it effective with becoming more in tune with feelings/thoughts and with managing anxiety/stress.
