Hi! I'm Suzanne and I've been a clinical social worker for over 30 years. I’m a warm and engaging therapist who believes that people are pretty much born with what they need to be healthy and happy-but get covered over and need help getting to that part of themselves. Therapy is like gently peeling back the layers of an onion to help you discover the answers. I don’t tell you what to do. I help you figure it for yourself!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session is an opportunity meet each other and get a sense if we're a good fit-can we work together? In the first session we'll go over background information to help me better understand you and your life. I ask and answer questions, teach self-regulation skills and start to narrow down what our focus will be. You should leave each session feeling a little better than when you came in.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I'm a terrific listener! I'm also good at establishing a safe, judgment-free space where you feel seen, understood and accepted. I've also had loads of training: Certified Gestalt Therapist, Structural Family Therapy, Trauma informed Care, EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (both individual and group therapy modalities) and humor, to name several, which I draw upon in our work together.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

My dream client wants a therapist who will help them walk their path to a destination that may not be clear. They know they aren't where they want to be but can't sort out the details on their own. That's where I come in!

My treatment methods

Trauma Informed Care

I've been doing therapy for a long time and over the years I've grown to rely on mindfulness, self-regulation, EMDR and relational counseling to help clients figure out what they need and how to go about getting it so they reach their therapy goals.

Gestalt

I completed a 3 year post graduate certificate in Gestalt Therapy almost 30 years ago. This humanist, client-centered way of working with clients infuses everything I do.

Group Therapy

One of the many things I love about being a therapist is being able to lead group therapy sessions! Groups are an incredibly powerful way to break through interpersonal issues within the safety of a group focused on mutual aid.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I have been integrating mindfulness into my work for decades. As an experienced meditator, I know first-hand how effective these tools can be.

Motivational Interviewing

This method is a common-sense modality that has become infused in my work, almost automatically.
