In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where we focus on building rapport and establishing trust. I begin by reviewing confidentiality, informed consent, and the structure of our sessions so clients feel comfortable and know what to expect moving forward. The initial session is primarily focused on gathering information—clients are encouraged to share what brought them to therapy, their current concerns, personal history, and goals for treatment. I take a collaborative and conversational approach, ensuring clients feel heard, respected, and supported throughout the process. For children and adolescents, I often meet with both the parent/guardian and child to understand the full context of the presenting issues. If the session is part of a psychological evaluation, I will also explain the assessment process and timeline in detail. By the end of the first session, clients will leave with a clearer understanding of their treatment plan or next steps, and they’ll know that they have a safe space where their mental health and well-being are prioritized.
One of my greatest strengths as a provider is my ability to connect with clients through empathy, authenticity, and cultural sensitivity. I create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore their challenges without fear of judgment. I am also highly skilled in psychological assessment and diagnostic clarity, which allows me to identify underlying issues and develop targeted, effective treatment plans. My background in both school and clinical settings equips me with a unique lens to address academic, emotional, and behavioral concerns across the lifespan. Another strength is my flexibility in treatment—I utilize an eclectic, evidence-based approach that allows me to tailor interventions to the specific needs and goals of each client. I am organized, collaborative, and solution-focused, which helps clients build insight and make meaningful progress. Above all, I am deeply passionate about the work I do and committed to walking alongside my clients on their journey toward healing and personal growth.
I am best positioned to serve children, adolescents, and adults who are navigating emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. With a background in school psychology and clinical assessment, I specialize in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, learning disabilities, and adjustment difficulties. I am particularly effective in supporting clients who need diagnostic clarity through comprehensive psychological evaluations, as well as those seeking evidence-based therapy to develop coping strategies, improve executive functioning, or manage life transitions—such as divorce, school changes, or academic stress. Additionally, I have a strong foundation in culturally responsive care and am passionate about serving diverse populations, including those from underserved communities and individuals who may be navigating mental health concerns alongside social or educational barriers. My approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and compassionate, allowing me to connect deeply with clients while offering practical tools and insight to support their personal growth and emotional well-being.
I have extensive experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as a core treatment modality in my clinical practice. Over the years, I have applied CBT to support children, adolescents, and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related symptoms, and adjustment issues, both in school-based settings and private practice. My approach to CBT involves helping clients identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, while developing healthier ways of thinking and coping. I incorporate psychoeducation to ensure clients understand the link between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I often use structured interventions such as thought records, behavioral activation, and cognitive restructuring to guide treatment and measure progress. For younger clients, I adapt CBT techniques using developmentally appropriate strategies like storytelling, play-based interventions, and visual aids. I also integrate parent and teacher collaboration to reinforce skills across settings. In group therapy settings—such as support groups for women experiencing divorce or children with anxiety—I utilize CBT principles to build resilience, foster emotional regulation, and promote problem-solving skills. Overall, CBT aligns well with my goal to empower clients with practical tools to manage their symptoms, increase insight, and promote long-term psychological well-being.
Eclectic Treatment Approach: My Experience and Application In my clinical practice, I take an eclectic approach to treatment, meaning I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to best meet the individual needs of each client. I believe that no single treatment model fits every client or clinical concern, so I tailor my interventions based on presenting issues, client preferences, developmental level, and cultural background. My eclectic framework primarily integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based strategies, and trauma-informed care. For example, I may use CBT strategies to address distorted thinking patterns while also incorporating mindfulness exercises to help clients develop present-moment awareness and emotional regulation. In work with children and families, I often combine behavioral strategies with elements of play therapy and parent coaching. This flexible, client-centered approach allows me to adapt treatment in real-time and ensures that I am meeting each client where they are. It has been particularly effective when working with complex cases involving comorbid conditions, trauma, or clients who may have not responded well to a single modality in the past. Ultimately, the eclectic method supports my commitment to delivering personalized, responsive care that fosters growth, healing, and lasting change.
