My name is Tahaji Smith. I am currently an MSW graduate, and an LCSW with 20+ years of public service experience. Previously, I worked for 17 years as an Emergency Public Safety Communications Operator for one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the nation, but I decided to pursue a career doing what I love…helping others become the best version of themselves.
In our first session, we’ll take time to get to know each other, explore your goals and expectations, and address any questions or concerns you may have about the process.
My greatest strengths as a therapist are my deep compassion for my clients and my ability to listen without judgment. I recognize each individual’s uniqueness and respect their expertise in their own lives. Therefore, I strive to create personalized therapy sessions that honor their specific needs and experiences.
My experience has allowed me to support many clients through life’s challenges, including stress, anxiety, depression, and more. My goal is to create a safe, open, and supportive space that empowers clients to navigate their growth with confidence and without fear of judgment. As a therapist, my primary role is to facilitate self-discovery and personal development, helping clients gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their journey.
I provide Christian counseling for clients with a strong belief in God or a higher power. My therapy sessions integrate biblical and spiritual wisdom, offering guidance rooted in faith. If requested, sessions can also include prayer for additional support.Persi
I integrate Mindfulness-Based Therapy into my work with all clients. This approach encourages clients to slow down, increase awareness of their surroundings, and observe their thought processes. By cultivating mindfulness, clients can develop greater clarity, emotional regulation, and the ability to make healthier decisions.
I incorporate Strength-Based Therapy with all my clients, as it encourages them to recognize and utilize their existing strengths while developing new ones to overcome challenges. This approach also empowers clients to trust themselves in making decisions that align with their well-being.
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with clients who engage in unhealthy behaviors driven by their thoughts or thinking patterns. CBT helps clients identify and reframe unhelpful thoughts, leading to healthier behaviors and improved well-being.
I use Person-Centered Therapy with all my clients, placing their needs and well-being at the forefront. Regardless of their circumstances, my priority is to provide a supportive, empowering, encouraging, and non-judgmental space where clients can openly and freely express their thoughts and feelings. My goal is to guide clients in making the best decisions for their lives, fostering self-awareness and personal growth.
