Hi there! I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) in Kentucky. I received my Masters degree from Eastern Kentucky University. While I began practicing as a therapist 4 years ago, I have worked in mental health for 8+ years. I specifically work with adults (18+) with a wide range of needs including substance use, grief and loss, ADHD, trauma, depression, and anxiety. I can't wait to work with you as you begin your journey to your best self!
In our first session together, we will spend time getting to know one another, talking about your needs, and what you want to accomplish in therapy. I hope to create an inviting place where every part of you is welcome, even the uncomfortable parts that are difficult to share. There may be times when feel challenged at times, but my job is to maintain a comforting and judgment free environment.
Having worked with children, adolescents, and adults with severe mental health needs in intensive outpatient settings, homes, and schools it has given me a lot of great experience. I don't have a specific way I provide treatment for anyone because it is not one size fits all. I really tailor therapy to the person I am working with, listen empathetically, and allow them to guide their goals.
I love working with those who are ready to grow! I especially work to help my clients gain motivation, self esteem, and confidence as it affects any and all walks of life.
I use DBT with a combo of CBT and ACT. As a therapist, I have worked with many who need concrete skills, which is what I love about DBT. DBT helps people learn to live in the moment, develop coping skills, learn to regulate their emotions, and improve their relationships.
CBT is the treatment method that I've always had as my foundation. CBT teaches people to have control over their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With CBT, I love the "ah- ha" moments when the self- awareness is sparking!
ACT is a newer treatment method that I have been implementing in my practice. Like DBT, ACT also stems from CBT. I have a deep appreciation for ACT as it challenges people to stop avoiding and denying those negative inner emotions, circumstances, and thoughts. It is an action oriented treatment that helps one commit to a healthier self and examine their values.
