Hello there! My name is Emma H. and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW). I have a bachelors and masters degree in social work and am passionate about providing compassionate and supportive clinical services to people in need. I completed a post graduate fellowship at Yale School of Medicine for extensive training in providing psychotherapy to children, teenagers, and adults.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we get to know one another and think about what brings you to therapy. I ask questions to help understand a little bit more about you, your strengths, your support systems, your hobbies, and what you hope to get out of our work together. We will think about goals for therapy and schedule our next session!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked with a wide variety of clients and completed dedicated training in therapy, my strengths as a provider include being able to offer a wide variety of clinical approaches. Healing looks different and I value being able to work with clients as individuals. I am committed to providing inclusive, kind, curious, and anti-racist care.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I consistently have worked with a ride range of clients - from children to adults. I feel passionate about providing clinical care to all. My clients all bring unique strengths to therapy and are looking for additional support with mental health needs.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

I firmly believe in the power of understanding our attachment patterns and relationships - both past and present. I work with people to support the exploration of how they feel in relationships and how they maintain relationships, as early on as in childhood. Often times it is how we felt loved and cared for as a child that impacts how we exist in present day relationships. I use attachment theory to guide not only how we understand what brings you to therapy but how to move forward towards personal healing.

Child Parent Psychotherapy

I am a rostered Child-Parent Psychotherapist (CPP) clinician. I completed my CPP training at Yale School of Medicine Child Study Center. CPP is a trauma informed dyadic treatment that considers both caregiver and child history. I deeply value this evidence based model of treatment as it guides much of my clinical work.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) when working with clients who are struggling with anxiety and depression. We work on understanding how our thoughts, feelings, and actions are all connected and work to develop skills to better cope with thoughts that do not feel good.

EMDR

I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I use EMDR to support clients with experiences of post-traumatic stress symptoms, stress management, and other experiences of trauma. I offer EMDR in person and virtually.

Strength-Based

I firmly believe that every client has unique strengths that can be used in therapy to achieve personal goals and healing. Therapy can be a space where we explore those strengths together!
