Hello! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Associate Clinical Counselor in the state of California. I have spent the past 5 years specifically focused on therapy/counseling, while incorporating over 20 years of experience providing wellness support through teaching yoga, meditation, mindful eating, and fitness classes, as well as volunteer work, including equine therapy. Rather than provide a one-size-fits-all approach, I recognize that healing can occur through different pathways, and I can help you explore options and find tools that work for you.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will be spent getting to know each other, understanding your strengths and challenges, what you hope to gain from therapy, and mutually deciding whether I am the right clinician to assist you. It is important that you find someone you feel you can talk to and has the right set of skills and training. If the combination works, great! And if there is someone who could better assist you, I'll let you know, as honesty is key in any working relationship.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths are providing a safe, non-judgmental space where clients have the opportunity to explore their unique views and gifts, develop insight, and integrate different aspects of themselves. Some of the words friends and fellow clinicians have used to described me are, "very patient; willing to engage in and learn from conversations, no matter how difficult they may be; direct communication; strong; trustworthy; unique perspectives; accepting; willing to get in the trenches."

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I enjoy working with individuals and couples ages 16 and up, especially those who are ready to actively engage and collaborate in their healing process. There are no shortcuts or quick fixes, but a trusted confidant who has confronted many obstacles can help you navigate through rocky terrain, avoid pitfalls, and keep forging ahead through the ups and downs. Healing can be a difficult and painful process, but it can also be greatly rewarding. If you could benefit from a combination of strength, compassion, encouragement, and straightforward communication, I might be the counselor you are looking for.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

I graduated from Pacifica Graduate Institute, which emphasizes a Jungian/depth oriented, person-centered approach to counseling. In addition, I have 20 years of experience teaching yoga, meditation, and other mindfulness practices to help manage stress, anxiety, and depression. These practices also emphasize acceptance of life on life's terms, while acknowledging it is possible to flow and grow, even when it hurts, and to commit to taking steps to improve overall wellness. Depending on my clients' needs, CBT, CPT, existential, and art therapy may also be incorporated into our work together to help get to the root cause of pain and dysfunction, identify triggers, change problematic thoughts, recognize choice, the power to make changes, and process painful emotions to create the necessary space for growth.
