Hello, and welcome! My name is Megan Allegretti, and I am so proud of you for considering the incredibly difficult step of seeking mental health therapy. In an effort to make this process feel less intimidating, here are some things about me, to see if my approach is a solid fit for you. My approach works with the intention to aid in healing from the distress in your mental and emotional world. Often we create various behavioral patterns in life, that worked at some point, but now you notice them becoming maladaptive. We will look at becoming more internally aware of systems that are not cutting it anymore for you, why those patterns evolved in the first place. With this understanding it can aid in identifying the function of behaviors, and better aid with implementing new skills in its place. My goal for treatment is to come with you along your journey, so you will not have to feel alone. I will also provide skills, education, processing, and perspectives you might not be able to see from your angle. If this feels like a good fit for you, please reach out to set up an intake together.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Clients can expect to to take away the sense of being seen, and supported most from our sessions together. There might be sometimes we have to look at the difficult parts of ourself. And as uncomfortable as they are, I would like you to feel comfortable and safe enough to explore those parts together, so they do not hold such power over you.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

The therapeutic techniques that are utilized in sessions together are all evidence based treatments! The methods that I have been trained in include, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Processing Theory (CPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Throughout grad school I worked as an intern at an adult and adolescent outpatient and inpatient program. From my time there I developed my specialities in, Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Suicidial Ideations, and Non-Suicidial Self Injury. After graduation, I continued developing my skills though different group practices. In these settings I have developed specialties in ADHD, LGBTQIA+ support, OCD, Trauma, and Eating Disorders.
