Welcome! My name is Sandy and I am a therapist based in Chicago. Do you have a nagging sense that you aren't living the life you truly want? I enjoy supporting individuals of all ages to explore their hopes and consider what is holding them back from creating a life they truly desire. I specialize in trauma and have experience working with LGBTQIA+ clients, families, adolescents, juvenile justice-involved youth, and professionals managing stress. I know therapy can seem like an overwhelming idea, whether it is a painful past or self-doubt, I will walk with you to the other side.
From the first session on, we will work at a pace you are comfortable with to unpack the barriers in your way, while simultaneously taking action towards the future. One step at a time.
I practice a Client-Centered approach, meaning we will do things your way. I also include Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral strategies, Mindfulness, trauma-focused CBT, and others to support you in getting to where you want to go. I also confront the impact of cultural stressors head-on, because you are a sum of many parts and there is room for all of you.
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach, and have found that humor not only stimulates the good stuff we need in our brains but makes "the work," do I dare say even a little fun?!
