New to Grow
I work informally: client and therapist relate as equals. Most work consists of Socatric questioning, that is, I believe you have the resources and knowlege to make the changes you seek, but need assistance finding and accessing them. As a team, we'll uncover the anwers together: relief from emotional pain, clarifying life goals, quieting the mind and resolving conflicts through a series of questions to which your answers will inform the course of your treament and the resolution that brought you to therapy in the first place.
First sessions usually consist of a review of events leading up to why you are requesting therapy. Sessions may feel more informal than expected. Therapist and client relationships may be reviewed in order to extablish a sense of ease and reduction in feeling anxious or uncertain about the therapy process.
With over 25 years of experience in various therapeutic settings, including County Behavioral Health, Child Protective Services, Crisis Intervention, Hospice, Forensics, and private practice, I have developed a rich and diverse skill set. My work encompasses individuals, couples, and older adults, as well as those facing legal challenges. Over the years I've become adept at providing clients with a sense of improved well-being, better coping mechanisms to manage difficult emotions and situations, a deeper understanding of yourself and your behaviors, and an ability to navigate life challenges with greater resilience, including relief from specific symptoms related to your mental health concerns or relationship issues. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and a Master’s degree from CSU Sacramento. I am dedicated to helping you navigate your journey toward growth and healing.
I have extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with anxiety or depression, couples that are experiencing conflict, individudals who are stuggling with work or career issues. I also have extensive experience working with elder clients, Hospice and end of life counseling. I have also worked successfully with individuals struggling with sex addictions and post adjudicated individuals and groups of sex offenders.
