I love my work because of the joy I feel when you have an eye-opening awareness that changes some aspect of your life forever. Would you like to get to the root cause of your unrest without years of work? I provide tools and a pathway forward for positive change. Emotional intelligence is a skill that you, or you and your partner, can learn. My job is to identify your strengths and teach you how to clear your roadblocks.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, I'll take the lead in briefly gathering information about your family of origin and your current family and friends. (It's good to have a context for the love and support you already have.) I'll seek understanding of your goals for therapy and how you see the blocks to your success. If it's acceptable to you, I'll introduce at least one tool to begin your progress down your chosen pathway to more joy and peace.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strengths include truly caring about the interesting people I'm allowed to counsel/teach/coach during my sessions. I am given the wonderful opportunity to pass on the most important information and skills I've learned in my lifetime.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I may be an optimal fit for you if: • You Value Practicality: You want tools you can use the moment you leave the office. You aren't just looking for an ear to listen; you’re looking for a pathway forward with steppingstones that make sense. • You Have a "Growth" Mindset: You are open to learning tools to get yourself unstuck. • You Are Goal-Oriented: —like following through on your plans, saving your marriage, or managing your stress—and you want a direct, Solution-Focused path to get there. • You Want Efficiency: Whether we are using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to move past a "stuck" memory or Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to find what’s already working, you appreciate a therapy style that respects your time and focuses on building momentum. I'm here as a team leader to assist the person who says, "I know what I should be doing, but I don’t know how to do it." I provide the "how."

My treatment methods

EMDR

I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) as a powerful, direct way to help the brain "reprocess" stuck memories or traumatic events that keep showing up in your present life. In my practice, I find EMDR is most effective because it doesn't require you to talk in circles about a painful past. I use an approved virtual platform specific to EMDR. HOW I USE IT: We focus on the physical and emotional "charge" of a memory. By using guided bilateral stimulation (like eye movements or taps), we help your brain move that memory from a place of active distress to a place of neutral understanding. It’s like updating the software of your mind—taking an old, painful "story" and finally filing it away.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My approach is educational as well as trauma focused. We look at the specific stories you tell yourself about your relationships and responsibilities. We use a focused form of CBT to replace "overwhelmed" or angry thoughts with manageable, step-by-step actions. BENEFITS: You will learn to recognize when you are "red-lining" and use specific tools to bring your nervous system back to a calm, productive baseline. You’ll stop reacting to your day and start directing it.

Couples Counseling

PRACTICAL TOOLS for REAL CHANGE: Healthy relationships are built on specific, learnable skills, not just good intentions. I help couples move past "fighting about the same old things". THE PLAN: We focus on direct problem-solving and educational tools. You will learn specific communication techniques to express needs without conflict and understand how your individual "stories" impact your partner. BENEFITS: You can expect greater happiness and a "reset" in your connection. You’ll walk away with the ability to solve problems as a team and the skills to create the positive feelings you both want in the home. We don't just analyze why you're stuck; we use Solution-Focused tools to identify the times you ARE getting it right and build a roadmap to make those moments your new normal.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) because I believe you don't need to spend years in therapy to see a real difference in your life. My practice is centered on the idea that you already have strengths and skills that we can use to apply to areas of distress. I provide direct teaching on how to replicate those successes so that your progress is fast and sustainable. BENEFITS: it’s about momentum. You can expect to walk away from our sessions with a clear, actionable picture of your "preferred future" and the immediate steps needed to get there. It’s an efficient, respectful way to help you move forward and stay there.
