About me

My name is Sondra G. Petty. I am a seasoned clinical social worker who has worked with all ethic groups with a specialty in addictions, women's issues, mental health in the areas of Depression, anxiety, mood disorders, crisis intervention, grief and coping family and career issues. I am a graduate of Howard University. I am additional study at Smith College in Object Relations Theory and The George Washington University.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session will be rapport building with the client. We will begin to discover who the client to explore who we can begin to work together to make their plan to make the changes they want. My goal is to be a non-judgmental safe place when my clients can look at themselves.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My greatest strength is the empathy and compassion with my clients. We are on this journey together. My goal is to help clients be the best person they want to be by understanding how they can do things differently to be the change they want to see in themselves. I have worked in the area of addictions, veterans issues and mental health for the past 30 years.

I am best positioned to serve women of all ages. Especially women of color who may be experiencing challenges on all fronts with career, family, racism and finding where they feel most comfortable in society.

I look at the development stages as my base using motivational interviewing with a strength based model.
