About me

I have been providing English and Spanish speaking families in the Chicago area with a wide range of psychological and counseling services since 1985. In our sessions we will explore your feelings, beliefs, or behaviors which are of concern to you and/or your family and identify aspects of yourself or your life that you would like to change. Issues we can discuss can include coping with life challenges, relationship issues, parenting stress, dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma or issues regarding work related stress. I have a Bachelors of Arts in Social Work and Psychology from Michigan State University, Masters of Arts in Psychology from Eastern Illinois University and a Masters in Public Health from the University of Illinois-Chicago. I am an Illinois Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Social Worker. I am a certified Divorce Mediator.

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

My goal is to assist clients explore feelings, beliefs, or behaviors that are of concern to them, challenge problematic thoughts and reactions, and work towards happiness and conflict resolution. In sessions we will identify aspects of your life or yourself that you would like to change, improve positive thinking ,and set realistic goals. Ours will be a collaborative relationship

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I believe my biggest strength is making my clients feel safe and heard. I like sessions to feel like you are having a chat with a friend, where we are both active in the conversation and where I hear at the end of the session "what you mean time is up? an hour already?" because you were so engaged you did not realize time passing.

I believe that a flexible, individualized approach that combines techniques and ideas from various therapeutic schools of thought to best suit a client's unique needs and circumstances, rather than adhering to a single, rigid method is essential. I believe that on offering a client centered, holistic approach to therapy. I am comfortable with numerous therapeutic tools I can incorporate into sessions such as cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and family dynamics
