About me

Hi there! I'm Katie and enjoy working with a wide range of people and specialize in treating teens and young adults. My specialty areas include mood instability, anxiety, depression, issues related to gender identity and sexuality, difficulty launching into adulthood, and maladaptive coping mechanisms including self-harm and impulsive behaviors. I work well with people who are emotionally sensitive, may feel that they don’t belong, and have difficulty maintaining stable relationships. I strive to help people create a life that’s more enjoyable by learning to tolerate painful emotions and have more pleasant experiences.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

At our initial meeting, we will initiate the therapeutic relationship-building process. I will create a safe and empathetic space where trust is established. We will start building rapport, conduct needs-based assessments, and define goals.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I incorporate Mindfulness techniques to increase awareness of thoughts and emotions as well as promote relaxation.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My style as a therapist is warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental, while also being direct and active in the therapy process. I believe the therapeutic relationship works best when it's a real relationship between equals that involves mutual respect, collaboration, and sometimes humor.

Implementing CBT can help individuals understand and challenge negative thoughts and thinking patterns and develop positive thinking patterns and coping skills.

Compassion Focused

I believe an excellent therapist you have to work with compassion and understanding. Being compassionate for clients can set a great foundation for a therapeutic relationship.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

Internal Family Systems is an approach to psychotherapy that identifies and addresses multiple sub-personalities within each person’s mental system. Internal Family Systems focuses on healing the wounded parts and restoring mental balance and harmony by changing the dynamics that create discord among the sub-personalities and the Self.
