New to Grow
I have dedicated more than 30 years of my life to the helping profession of Social Work. I have worked tirelessly to advocate for the poor, elderly, disabled and those struggling with substance use and mental health challenges. I prefer to be in the present, listen to the client and partner with them to come up with a plan to meet their unique set of challenges and opportunities, not just just meet short term goals but make therapy a way to teach long term ways of coping that aid in meeting challenges in the future and not dependent on the therapist but through inner strengths that are fostered in therapy as ways to build up self-esteem, cultural pride and self worth.
Your first session with me you will find a safe, calm, welcoming environment focused on your ability to share at your own pace. I will be asking gentle questions to get an understanding of what brings you to therapy and what your wanting to accomplish in therapy. I will also explain how the process will work and how we will build trust over time to partner on solving challenges and opportunities that brings you to therapy.
I have more than 30 years of experience in clinical social work. I have helped hundreds find ways out of poverty; advocate for their loved ones in long-term care and navigate a challenging healthcare system; and aided families in finding better ways to communicate and receive feedback from both parent and child. I have used multiple therapeutic techniques including but not limited to individual, group and family therapy; and use of video feedback as "home work" for parents-child interactions reviewed in session to demonstrate real world scenarios to aid in family communication and resolving conflict.
So many today are coping with life challenging ranging from paying for healthcare, maintaining a household, job and paying for simple things like childcare and groceries. These can be overwhelming but I am here to aid you in finding and giving yourself grace to overcome those challenges of feeling overwhelmed that lead to depression, anxiety and conflict within the family. We will work together to aid in treatment plan that will suit your unique circumstances that will support your overall well being, and aid in long term ways to practice self-care and practices for clear and communication and boundaries. Remember that seeking help and support whether through counseling or trusted people is of sign of strength and important step toward healing.
