LMHC, 8 years of experience
I am a licensed mental health counselor and licensed clinical addiction counselor in Indiana. I have completed Gottman Method Couples Therapy level 1 training. I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work. I help couples seeking healing from conflict or infidelity, and those wanting to increase intimacy and connection. I also work individually with clients struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and addiction, including those with a history of trauma. I am EMDR trained, and although I don’t offer EMDR virtually, this does help to create trauma-informed treatment planning and interventions. I have 7 years of experience in inpatient, crisis management, detox, intensive outpatient and residential treatment. I have worked with adults of all ages. I have experience with group, individual, and couples therapy. I am happy to provide a free 15 minute consultation to see if I can be a good fit to help you meet your needs.
The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I begin the therapy relationship by helping you explore your goals and share what brought you to therapy. Don't let this sound intimidating. I can read the room and adjust to a style that makes you most comfortable. If you are a natural talker, I can listen and use questions and feedback. If you are naturally more quiet or less likely to take the lead, I can easily provide the structure in session that helps you find your voice and begin setting and reaching goals.
My work and life experiences have molded my therapeutic style. My greatest strength is an ability to connect with people in an authentic way. I have a genuine compassion and empathy for people who are hurting. My clients can feel that. That is not something you can fake. While I bring valuable clinical skills and knowledge that help clients heal, the work that is done in session would not be productive without trust and comfort.
I enjoy working with couples who are seeking healing from emotional injuries, conflict or infidelity. I work with couples who want to increase intimacy and connection. I also enjoy working individually with clients whose lives have been impacted by addiction, depression and anxiety. My clients are often exhausted from trying to willpower through. They want to live a life that is content and connected to others, but their internal struggles have isolated and tormented them, making it difficult or impossible to live the meaningful lives they want. I help clients unpack and process painful memories. We set goals for the future and identify realistic steps to make those goals a reality.
I have completed level 1 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy, and I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work.
I use CBT techniques to help individuals struggling with addiction, depression or anxiety. CBT helps change thoughts and behaviors, reducing the power of negative or unhelpful thinking patterns.
I am able to incorporate Gottman Method Couples Therapy through a Biblical Approach for couples who wish to incorporate their faith into therapy and healing.
