Hi, I’m Marissa, a Licensed Professional Counselor aka emotional support human. I am passionate about helping people navigate life’s challenges while offering a space that feels supportive, comforting, and empowering. I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine, judgment-free conversation. I want sessions for you to feel like you're on the world's comfiest virtual couch. I’m here to listen, support, and help you find your next step forward, what ever that may look like for you.
Therapy with me feels like a real conversation, not a one-size- fits- all, because we are all unique individuals with different needs...and that should be embraced! I utilize different approaches depending on my client and their unique needs. I specialize in seeing my clients as individuals and tailoring my approach accordingly.
I feel like my greatest strength is providing a non-judgmental space for my clients. I want my clients to feel empowered, heard, in their therapy space. I believe the foundation to a great therapy experience is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. I truly believe we are all unique individuals with different needs, and that should be embraced!
Are you having difficulty making decisions, feeling tired and unmotivated, or struggling with racing thoughts or negative self-talk? Facing relationship challenges, life transitions, or simply needing support? Are you grieving or want to unpack other heaviness that's been weighing you down? Seeking support is a powerful first step toward healing and growth. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate space where you feel understood and supported. Let's unpack the heaviness and work together to get you feeling more like yourself again.
I believe all clients seeking therapy have the desire and capability to achieve their personal goals. Counseling sessions should make clients feel empowered, motivated, heard, and understood in a nonjudgmental space. Whether you are trying to gain more confidence, improve interpersonal relationships, deal with the effects of major life stressors/events, and many other life topics, I utilize a person-centered approach first. Each and every one of my clients is unique in their individual needs, and that should be embraced. "What is most personal is most universal."- Carl R. Rogers
CBT is beneficial for a wide range of presenting problems and recognizes how our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physical sensations are connected. I use CBT to help clients identify harmful/maladaptive thoughts and behaviors and give them the tools to navigate and manage symptoms. CBT can be useful for you if you experience PTSD, anxiety, stress, depression, relationship patterns/issues, and overall stress and coping skills. With this treatment, clients can be challenged by the therapist in a beneficial way to point out harmful thought patterns/behaviors.
