In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In an encouraging and client centered setting, the first session will be discussing forms that are required to be filled out before our first session. Should there be any clarifications needed or you or I have any questions, those will also be discussed. Your identified current goal for our 4-8 sessions together will be discussed so we can come up with a plan of action to help you reach your short-term therapeutic goals. Goal setting may carry into second session, depending on how much is done in first session. You are making the right choice to take care of yourself!

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my favorite things about therapy is helping other people achieve their potential. When life gets overwhelming, it is so easy to focus on everything causing feelings of exhaustion and frustration. Therapy can be helpful in navigating work-life stress and other current life stresses by learning effective tools to deal with your situation. Sometimes it may take trying different things to see what works best for you and that is the great thing about therapy. There are many ways to navigate through situations that are effective and lead to successfully achieving therapeutic goals. You are strong and worth it! Let's work together to help you through your current situation.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My telehealth practice is focused on brief (4-8) sessions to focus on current issues such as work-life balance, life coping skills, interpersonal skills, and career goal setting. Individual therapy clients in my telehealth practice are women who are NOT experiencing intense counseling needs such as crisis intervention, domestic violence, or any severe and/or chronic mental health need. Crisis situations and severe and/or chronic mental health counseling needs are best served by local providers and resources. I have experience working with individuals and families dealing with various conflicts, as well as children with ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and other behavioral issues in the home, school, and community setting. I have worked with clients in career goal setting, work-life balance, and coping skills to improve interpersonal relationships. In addition, parenting skills, anger management skills, and other life coping skills have been a focus of my experience in working with individuals and families dealing with many issues.

My treatment methods

Christian Counseling

Experience with Biblical counseling as it relates to enhancing well-being and personal growth. Should clients wish to utilize Biblical wisdom and insight into living their lives, Biblical verses of encouragement will be discussed. In my integrative approach to therapy, my clients and I develop a short- term plan (4-8 weeks) that will best help them in achieving strengths based and supportive care to help them get through the life situations they are experiencing. Psalm 91:1-2.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize CBT to assist clients in understanding how their thoughts affect their behaviors. Clients and I develop a goal-oriented, and short-term plan (4-8 sessions) to assist clients in changing negative thought patterns and behaviors focusing on the present, helping clients identify, challenge, and modify irrational beliefs and dysfunctional behaviors to improve emotional well-being.

Eclectic

In adopting an Eclectic Therapy approach to counseling, my clients and I come up with a flexible, client and compassion centered approach to meeting their therapeutic needs. A combination of therapeutic techniques from many theoretical orientations are employed to assist clients in reaching therapeutic goals for short term (4-8 weeks) therapy.

Integrative

In tailoring a client's short term (4-8 weeks) treatment plan I use the Integrative Therapy approach to maximize the client being able to reach their ability to learn coping skills to deal with current life conflicts, challenges, transitions, and decision making in areas of life such as career paths and work-life balance. Integrative Therapy is flexible, holistic and blends elements from different psychological schools—such as Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, Behavior Modification Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and other therapy techniques to address mental, physical, and emotional health, aiming to help clients improve their overall well-being.

Interpersonal

I use Interpersonal Therapy techniques to help clients evaluate their current level of support and work with the client to find ways to increase confidence in the case of social anxiety to gain more positive trusting relationships. Interpersonal relationship patterns are discussed in sessions so that the client can take an honest look at how far they have come and gain confidence in their ability to improve relationships. Clients learn the role of healthy boundaries in relationships, the importance of respecting their own positive efforts toward better interpersonal skills, as well as problem solving skills. This short term (4-8 weeks) treatment plan helps clients gain techniques from theoretical approaches to therapy such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy techniques that are goal-oriented approaches focusing on identifying strengths, exceptions, and future solutions that are practical and client centered. The goal is for clients to feel empowered, recognize their progress, and building on what is already working in the client’s life.
