LPC, 10 years of experience
Dawn Seeburger completed her master’s degree in School Counseling with licensure at Kutztown University. She has been practicing for over 10 years and is knowledgeable and confident in her work. With younger clients, she utilizes an interactive play therapy-based approach which includes games, sand tray, artwork, etc. CBT and psychoeducation is also included during sessions. Dawn works with all ages from as young as 3 years old. Typically, she incorporates family members, when possible to help families improve relationships and make positive changes. If your child is struggling in the school environment, Dawn can help work through this and also collaborate with the teacher to develop a positive plan for success in the classroom. Dawn also works with adult clients to resolve life stressors and reduce anxiety. She takes a very individualized approach and provides a listening ear and interactive feedback.
During the initial intake session, Dawn will meet with the child and parent(s) to collect as much information as possible. A goal will be developed to work towards throughout the treatment process. The recommended frequency of sessions will also be determined.
I am very lively and interactive with my clients. They can feel welcomed and comfortable with being their genuine selves during session times. I have activities and games to keep interest and participation. As a mom of 10 children of my own, I also bring a great deal of life experience to my work.
Dawn Seeburger works with clients who may be having challenges in school or at home. She is very familiar with the signs and symptoms of anxiety, autism and ADHD in children and teenagers. She can help identify triggers for these challenging behaviors and assist clients with developing positive ways to cope. Dawn also works with adults on family issues such as relationships and/or parenting.
I work with children, teens and parents/family members to strengthen the relationship between them. Play therapy is interactive and fun while also delivering a therapeutic lesson. I have games, toys, sand tray and activities on hand for each session. Clients practice positive coping skills while interacting at their preferred level. Theraplay also helps parents engage with their children and understand them on a different level.
EMDR is a great way to process through trauma and anxiety. It can be quicker to resolve these issues and there is less talking.
I use CBT to help change negative or faulty thought processes. Clients can learn to move forward with personal situations in better ways by using positive thinking.
I work with couples to help strengthen their relationship and also to help recover from situations which may not have been expected. Couples are welcome to process their personal issues while feeling supported.
When life gets stressful, counseling can help. Talking through the emotions and developing new ways to cope is a great way to become more comfortable with life on life’s terms.
