New to Grow
My therapy style is direct, grounded, and collaborative. I blend evidence-based approaches like CBT and behavior therapy with a no-nonsense, supportive presence to help clients build practical tools, shift unhelpful patterns, and create meaningful change. I am also known to bring a bit of humor to the session where needed. I work to meet clients where they are whether it be related to commitment to therapy, processing concerns or other barriers to meaningful work.
Our first session will be a time to get to know each other and determine if we are a good working relationship. Though the therapist in me will ask a lot of questions, please know that I will not judge and this is just a way to identify our plan. The questions can be answered briefly allowing us to identify areas that we may explore more later. This is also a time to ask me a few questions about my work, my approach and learn if you are comfortable with my personality.
I am told that I am direct and can be when it is appropriate for a client. I may push you a bit out of your comfort zone but only in the spirit of making process. I will never push more than you can handle. I will also support you fully through the process. I also try to bring a bit of humor to our sessions when needed and appreciated. Ultimately may approach is to remind you that we are two imperfect humans working on a solution you need and want to live your best life.
I work with individuals, couples, and families navigating a wide range of concerns including substance use, communication challenges, life transitions, and identity development. I also have experience supporting parents and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). My sessions are inclusive, action-oriented, and focused on helping clients develop the insight and skills they need to move forward in a way that works for them.

I choose multiple evidence based models based on client needs. Some methods used include Motivational Interviewing, CBT, ACT and Bowen Family Systems Theory. I also modify many approaches based on differences in cognitive and learning ability.
