About me

I am a licensed marriage and family therapist with more than 19 years experience working with children, adults, and families, the last 10 years in Teletherapy. I received my masters degree in psychology with a focus in marriage and family therapy in 2011, and I have completed certification training to be a functional family therapy supervisor. I'm a military veteran and have worked with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as well as provided supervision to interns. I also provide cognitive processing therapy for trauma, a gold standard evidence-based psychotherapy.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

If you courageously decide to work with me, I will strive to create a warm and trusting therapeutic relationship, free from judgment, and to provide a safe and confidential environment.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My style tends to be inner personal and integrative, and I will tailor therapy to fit your unique situation and goals, drawing from a variety of therapeutic methods. I believe that everyone has the ability to grow and change, and I would like to assist in that process, well encouraging congruence between your beliefs, values, and behaviors.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

Life transitions such as divorce or a change of job can be a struggle, as can depression, anxiety, trauma, mental illness, substance abuse, intimacy issues, and relationship challenges. I believe that counseling offers healing, growth, and clarification.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

With Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I strive to assist clients with identifying thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, dissecting dysfunctional thoughts, and re-framing to make the dysfunctional thoughts more accurate and in line with reality.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

The power of CPT lies in its emphasis on how negative or incorrect thoughts about past trauma can increase the symptoms of PTSD and fuel powerful secondary emotions. These secondary emotions can make it more difficult for someone who has experienced trauma to process memories in a healthy way. CPT provides a framework for challenging negative thought patterns and replacing them with healthier, more productive ones. Also, CPT equips individuals with coping skills they can use to process past trauma.
