Hi, I'm Melanie! I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 25 years of experience as a clinician in a variety of settings. Whether you need to work through some heavy stuff from the past that's been weighing you down or you just want to process some day-to-day work or relationship stress, therapy can be a major step in the right direction toward self-care! Prior to starting my private practice I was working for the Veterans Health Administration and I remain passionate about continuing to be an advocate for Veterans to educate them about and link them to resources and services that are available to them.
During our first session we will get to know each other and I will gather some necessary background information. You will be able to ask questions to get to know me too! Then we can make a plan together to determine what we want to work on together as well as a schedule for our sessions.
I addition to my experience working with trauma and addiction, my knowledge of the VA system and the resources and benefits available to Veterans is something that helps me to assist and educate Veterans in the community who have not yet enrolled in the VA or have previously been turned away, etc. I'm passionate about linking Veterans with resources in the community and through the VA that can improve their quality of life.
I believe all treatment needs to be mindful of a person's past trauma in order to be successful.
