About me

Congratulations on taking this step towards your personal wellness! My name is Gena Taylor-Tidwell, and I am an NCC certified Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) offering telehealth clinical counseling services in the states of Kentucky & Oregon. I received my Master's degree from Walden University of Minnesota and my undergraduate degree from Murray State University in Kentucky. I help adults understand and navigate a variety of concerns to empower them to become the best versions of themselves.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

The first session is a starting point for establishing a client/counselor connection, which is essential to the therapeutic experience. We will start with brief introductions and review intake information. You and I will and identify expectations for therapy then outline your needs and goals which will help us create a tailored plan to work through in your follow-up sessions. After that, we will be ready to dive into the specific challenges you're facing.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable exploring their concerns. While I am clinical and conscientious in my approach, I also believe in maintaining a relaxed atmosphere and incorporating humor when appropriate. I find that providing resources can be beneficial for many clients, but I am happy to adjust my approach based on your needs. I offer telehealth sessions Tuesday-Saturday, 10-6pm CDT. Sessions may be negotiated outside of these hours upon special circumstances.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I enjoy working with adults ages 18+. My clients are eager to improve, but might not have the insight, support or tools needed to make their goals a reality. If you are feeling stuck, overwhelmed and/or isolated, there are multiple techniques we can explore to find what works best for you!

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I utilize an eclectic approach of theories that are customized to an individual client's needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) includes such techniques as mindfulness, understanding how our thoughts impact our emotions as well as identifying negative thought distortions then challenging and reframing them with cognitive processing theory (CPT). Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT) focuses on present moment, accepting thoughts and feelings without judgment and moving forward with that acceptance. Rational Emotive Behavioral Theory (REBT) helps clients identify self-defeating thoughts and feelings, challenges the nature of irrational and unproductive feelings, and replaces them with healthier, more productive beliefs. Dialectal Behavioral Theory (DBT) emphasizes personal choice, acceptance of the self and one’s situation, being worthy of love and positive relationships and explores emotional response vs reaction (REST). Positive Psychology emphasizes strengths and virtues that enable clients to thrive.
