Cristina Infante
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) practicing in Indiana. I am a compassionate therapist dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life’s challenges.
Strong communication and collaboration are at the heart of my work, helping clients process emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience.
Using evidence-based approaches like CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Trauma-Focused care for over 14 years, I have had the privilege to witness countless number of individuals reach their personal goals and aspirations beyond their original expectations. As a therapist, I place a strong emphasis on the value of providing a safe space for all my clients that promotes personal healing, growth, self-discovery, and empowerment for them to ultimately create, and sustain, meaningful changes that improve their overall quality of life.
First session
In your first session with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space where we begin to explore your needs, goals, and what brought you to therapy. We’ll discuss your background, current challenges, and what you hope to achieve in therapy. I’ll also explain my approach and answer any questions you may have. This session is about building trust and ensuring you feel comfortable. Together, we’ll create a plan that supports your healing and growth at a pace that feels right for you.
Strengths
With 14 years of experience as a therapist, I bring deep empathy, cultural awareness, and a client-centered approach to my work. Having moved from Venezuela to the USA at age 12, I understand the complexities of life transitions and cultural identity, allowing me to connect with diverse clients on a deeper level. My approach is rooted in evidence-based practices, including CBT, Trauma-Focused CBT, Person-Centered Therapy, and Family Therapy, ensuring that treatment is tailored to each individual’s needs. I strive to create a warm, non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, valued, and empowered in their healing journey. Strong communication and collaboration are at the heart of my work, helping clients process emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. My passion lies in guiding individuals, couples, and families through challenges, fostering insight, and supporting lasting growth and transformation.
Ideal clients
I work with adults (18+), including individuals, couples, and families seeking healing, growth, and healthier relationships with themselves and others. My ideal clients are open to self-reflection, emotional insight, and meaningful change while navigating anxiety, trauma, stress, communication challenges, or life transitions. In couples and family work, openness to individual growth and accountability helps support lasting relational change and deeper healing.
Treatment methods
Person-centered (Rogerian)
I use Person-Centered Therapy to create a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where you feel heard and valued. This approach focuses on your unique experiences, strengths, and perspectives, allowing you to explore your thoughts and emotions at your own pace. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and my role is to provide empathy, genuine understanding, and unconditional positive regard to help you gain clarity, build self-trust, and achieve personal growth. Together, we will work toward deeper self-awareness and meaningful change in a way that feels authentic to you.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be impacting your well-being. This approach is goal-oriented and focused on practical strategies to manage challenges such as anxiety, depression, and stress. Together, we will explore how your thoughts influence your emotions and actions, and we’ll work on developing healthier ways of thinking and coping. Through structured techniques like reframing negative thoughts, practicing mindfulness, and building problem-solving skills, CBT empowers you to take control of your mental health and create lasting positive change.
Family Therapy
I use Family Therapy to help families improve communication, strengthen relationships, and navigate challenges together in a supportive and structured way. This approach focuses on understanding family dynamics, identifying patterns that may be causing conflict or stress, and fostering healthier interactions. I provide a safe space where each family member can express their thoughts and feelings while working collaboratively toward solutions. Through guided conversations, conflict resolution techniques, and skill-building exercises, we work to create a more supportive, understanding, and connected family environment.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients develop practical skills for managing emotions, improving relationships, and coping with distress. DBT focuses on four key areas: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. Through a balance of acceptance and change, I guide clients in understanding their emotions, reducing impulsive reactions, and building healthier ways to navigate life’s challenges. My goal is to create a supportive environment where clients feel empowered to cultivate self-awareness, resilience, and lasting emotional well-being.
Brainspotting
I am a trained Brainspotting practitioner dedicated to helping clients access and process unresolved trauma, emotional blocks, and negative patterns at a deep neurological level. Brainspotting is a powerful, brain-based therapy that uses the visual field to unlock the body’s innate ability to heal. My approach integrates Brainspotting with evidence-based practices to support emotional regulation, resilience, and lasting change.
