New to Grow
Hello, I am Danielle LaPrade, Licensed Professional Counselor serving CT Licensed Mental Health Counselor serving RI I am during the week also a PT salaried school-therapist with younger children (K-2nd grade). I am experienced in parent-coaching, child interactive therapy, and have measures and means to ensure that remote sessions can be both fun and beneficial. Often times, the work that does happen with remote families stems from practices that will be taught by me in session through psychoeducation, role-play, application, and observations. That is just a form of therapy that eclectic it really depends on the need and development of your children, your family, you. I have experience with trauma, teens, self-harm, suicidal ideations, bullying, relationships, toxic stress and more.
During session #1, I will review your entire intake packet, including any prior treatment, emergency records, and contacts. I will also review your medical, mental, and social history. The first session will primarily be conducted in a structured manner, with a set of questions to ensure that all legal and ethical duties are handled and that will be followed regarding your presenting problem, symptoms, and ailments that have or have never been treated. Disclosures will lead to a preliminary diagnosis, which will be used to successfully bill insurance. This diagnosis will be preliminary and can be changed as more information is gathered during a full psychosocial assessment, which will consist of about 2-to-3-hour sessions (depending on the reason for seeking services, the time approved, the seriousness of the conditions, and risk factors, etc.).
I chose to become a Licensed Professional Counselor because I’m empathetic, warm, understanding, and strong. I’ve always been kind and found ways to make money meaningful and fulfilling, which has allowed me to thrive and spread positivity.
Motivation and self-care are all you need to carve out “me time.” Once you have even one of these traits, we can accomplish your goals together as a team.
As an evidence-based practice Cognitive Behavioral Therapy = Cognitive theory which is thought—feelings-behaviors. Think of negative thoughts leading to negative outcomes. Imagine that a positive thought could counteract any negative thought (try this) if you can gain a positive spin on ideas, thoughts, then you should behaviorally see changes. Basically, many forms of CBT can be used to aim toward good positive behaviors through altering thoughts from negative to positive by practices, role-plays, actions and homework for clients I use CBT combined with other theories BT, TF-CBT, I-CBT. Whether you are dealing with PTSD, Substance use, Depression or anxiety to name a few CBT is often discussed- education, practice, process, measurements, are just some things to expect.
As a therapist I use a combination of theories such as CBT, Psychodynamic Therapy, Reality Therapy, Personal-Centured, Psychotherapy is always trauma-informed and often is pulled from a variety of my educational experiences and theoretical foundations.
