(she/her)
Welcome! I'm glad we found each other, I am a LCSW-S from Texas, with 8+ years of experience working in the mental health field. I have experience working at state hospitals, inpatient/outpatient facilities & FQHC's collaborating with medical providers for medication management. I am naturally empathetic, curious, and enjoy helping others. Therapeutically, I draw on Solution-focused & Client Centered Therapy, tailored to each individual client and grounded in a strong therapeutic relationship. During the counseling process, we will work together using a strengths and integrated perspective focusing on the whole person: mind, body and spirit. I view therapy as a sacred journey in which you and I will work collaboratively to identify what goals you want to achieve through the therapy process. My goal is to empower my clients and encourage growth throughout the counseling process in order to achieve a better quality of life. I often use humor to connect with my clients. I will provide you with a compassionate, supportive, and non-judgemental safe space in which we can openly talk about whatever brings you to counseling. Every individual is unique, and so are their life challenges. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting difficulties, or other everyday life stressors, reaching out to get help is the first step to hope and healing.
Life can be stressful & complicated. Individual counseling will help you learn new coping skills as well as gain a better understanding of yourself & the world around you. Therapy provides a nonjudgemental environment that cultivates self-exploration & growth. I offer deep listening and thoughtful collaboration to help you bring clarity and insight to the things in your life that you would like to change. My counseling approach is direct and concrete so that you are better equipped for change. Seeking therapy doesn’t mean you’re broken or weak. It means you’re courageous. I applaud you for taking responsibility for your life and wanting to improve your mental health.
Unlearning: letting go of foundational knowledge and cognitive habits that made us successful in the past but now stand in the way of embracing the future. Mindfulness: the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. "You are not your thoughts". Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR): is a psychotherapy treatment that is designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (www.emdria.org for more info). Written Exposure Therapy: a unique approach where the client writes about a single traumatic event, and the therapist focuses on the client's experiences while writing about the trauma, rather than the event itself.
Take a step back and you’ll begin to realize how valuable unlearning can be. You’re doing it all the time — probably without even realizing it. That’s just the nature of a changing yourself & the world. Think of it as a software update. Your devices need constant updates, so why wouldn’t your knowledge? So, it helps to stay out of the old and in with the new this era. "Learning to Unlearn"

Susann is everything. She really gets me and is a great listener. I feel like I could talk to her for hours. She has a solution or an idea for everything. And if that doesn’t work, she helps you come up with other things. I am very comfortable with telling her about anything without feeling judged. She is very kind and knowledgeable in her work. I would recommend Susann to anybody.
