About me

I am Kimberly Adams, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Anger Management Specialist with over five years of experience helping individuals, families, and women rediscover peace, purpose, and confidence. I specialize in supporting clients who feel weighed down by anxiety, burnout, or complicated relationships. My style is warm, collaborative, and empowering—I listen without judgment, offer practical tools, and gently challenge you to set boundaries that honor your worth. I believe therapy should be a safe space where you can be fully yourself while learning healthier ways to navigate life’s challenges.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

In our first session, my priority is creating a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard and respected. I’ll start by learning what brought you to therapy, your current challenges, and what you hope to gain from our work together. We’ll explore your history at a pace that feels comfortable, without pressure to share more than you’re ready for. I’ll also explain how therapy works with me—what sessions typically look like, the approaches I use (such as CBT, ACT, trauma-informed care, and experiential methods), and how we’ll tailor them to fit your needs. Together, we’ll begin identifying immediate goals and small steps to support you between sessions. Many clients leave the first session feeling a sense of relief just from finally being able to put words to what they’ve been carrying. My goal is that you walk away knowing you don’t have to navigate this alone and that therapy can be a collaborative, empowering process.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ability to combine clinical expertise with genuine compassion. I bring five years of counseling experience, specialized training in trauma, boundaries, and relationship dynamics, and a deep understanding of how cultural and personal history shape us. Clients often tell me I have a gift for helping them feel safe enough to open up, even when they’ve struggled to trust before. I have a calm, grounded presence that allows me to hold space for intense emotions without judgment. At the same time, I’m practical—I don’t just listen, I offer tools, strategies, and new perspectives you can immediately apply to daily life. Another strength is my ability to personalize therapy. I recognize that no two clients are the same, so I draw from multiple approaches—CBT, ACT, trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, and experiential methods—adapting them to your personality, values, and goals. Most importantly, I see therapy as more than symptom management; it’s about helping you rediscover who you are, build healthier relationships, and reclaim peace and purpose.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal client is someone who has given so much to others that she’s forgotten what it feels like to choose herself. She may be a high-functioning woman battling anxiety, burnout, or people-pleasing, or someone trying to heal from a complicated relationship. She often feels guilty for setting boundaries, worries about letting people down, or finds herself repeating unhealthy patterns. My clients want to learn how to say “no” without shame, build healthier relationships, and reconnect with their own voice and values. I also support parents who feel overwhelmed balancing their children’s needs with their own. Whether she’s navigating heartbreak, rebuilding after betrayal, or simply longing for more peace, my client is ready to grow, even if she’s unsure where to begin. Together, we work on practical coping tools, emotional regulation, and self-trust so she can create the life and love she truly deserves.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I use ACT to help clients learn how to live in alignment with their values, even while experiencing difficult emotions. I encourage mindfulness practices, values exploration, and acceptance strategies so clients can develop greater flexibility and resilience. My approach makes ACT practical and engaging, helping clients let go of the struggle with “fixing” feelings and instead build a life that feels meaningful.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I use CBT to help clients recognize the connection between their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. With over five years of clinical experience, I have guided clients in identifying unhelpful thought patterns and replacing them with healthier, more balanced perspectives. In practice, I often integrate thought-record exercises, coping skills, and behavior activation strategies, tailoring them to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Trauma Informed Care

I have specialized training in trauma-informed approaches, ensuring that safety, empowerment, and trust guide every session. I work with clients who have experienced trauma by helping them regulate emotions, recognize triggers, and develop grounding skills. My practice emphasizes collaboration and pacing so clients feel in control of their healing journey.Do

Experiential Therapy

I use experiential methods to help clients move beyond just “talking about” their challenges. This may include journaling, guided imagery, role-play, mindfulness, or other creative exercises that allow emotions and insights to surface in a safe way. In my experience, these approaches are especially effective with clients who feel “stuck” in patterns and need new ways to process and express themselves.
