Hello! I am a licensed Mental Health Counselor in South Dakota, Minnesota, and Florida. I attended Colorado Christian University and have six years of experience working with individuals of all backgrounds. I specialize in incorporating Christianity with evidence-based techniques to teach individuals to manage day-to-day struggles as well as significant life events. I also offer Biblical counseling to individuals in all 50 states. This may or may not be covered by insurance depending on the state that you are located in. If you are not sure about the difference between Biblical counseling and Christian counseling, reach out to me and I will be happy to provide this information.

Welcome! I'm Shequitta Lenoir a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Minnesota and Texas. I have practiced in the mental health field for 19 years assisting individuals in identifying and practicing coping skills to manage symptoms they experience. I have worked with couples and families in navigating through barriers that plague their relationships (ex: anger, mistrust, lack of communication, etc). In my work with teenagers, I have assisted them in working through challenges in their environments whether it's at school, in friendships or within their family dynamics. I am happy you chose to invest in your health and wellness. So often we take time to focus on others which is endearing, and it is also important to take time to focus on your specific areas of need and I'm hopeful we can do that together.

My first career includes 17 years of retail management. I worked in multiple divisions, environments, and roles within the retail management industry. Most of my experiences were in the Big-Box retail environments or within the corporate office environment, so I understand the expectations and stressors of P&L management, marketing, staff performance/recruitment/training & development, shrinkage, O.S.H.A. compliance, and merchandising. I transitioned from the retail management industry to the human services industry in March of 2010 after receiving my master’s degree in Human Services with a specialty in Mental Health Counseling. This information is pertinent for adults who need assistance to cope with work-life balance, corporate industry standards, stressful work environments, conflict management with co-workers, and work performance due to compassion fatigue or inappropriate time management.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter by Minnesota rather than a city like Minneapolis?

When looking for online therapy, you can see anyone that is credentialed in the state. We want you to find the best fit, therefore, Grow Therapy shows available therapists across Minnesota from Saint Paul to Rochester! If you’d rather see someone in-person, you can change the filter from virtual and find a therapist near you in Minnesota.

Will my therapist take insurance?

When booking you’ll be asked to verify with your Member ID. However, if you don’t have any of the insurances available you can select cash. Our therapists will have their cost of appointment on their profile. Individual session costs will vary.

How does the Specialty Filter work? Can I find a therapist that focuses on Family Therapy?

The specialty filter is optional. You don’t need to check any boxes to see a provider. However, fit is very important when selecting an online therapist. If you have knowledge or experience to recognize what specialties you may need. For example, your selected specialty, Family Therapy, is filtering therapists in Minnesota that work with patients with similar concerns.

Why use Gender, Age, and Identities filters?

Finding a provider with a similar life experience can be beneficial because it can be easier to establish rapport and potentially be understood quicker and clearer.

What to expect during your first session?

Your first therapy session is for you and your therapist to meet each other and to ask any questions that you have about the counseling process. This is where you can expect your therapist to do the same as they will ask questions to gain insight into your specific situation. In this first session the therapist is doing their part to gather as much information so they can better assess if they are able to meet your therapeutic needs.

Depending upon your provider's specialty, you may also discuss the methods the therapist will use. For additional information on therapy methods, please visit the Grow Therapy Help Center. Some people feel nervous before their first appointment, and that is totally normal! Coming prepared with a list of questions for your therapist may help. Remember, you're taking a brave step by seeking therapy, and it is okay to be nervous as you try something new.
