Hi, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I graduated from Duquesne University and then Marywood University. As a counselor/therapist I work with adults as they navigate the anxieties of life and relationships. I help persons identify and assess the thinking/thoughts that bother them and interrupt their relationships with their family or at their work. I have studied and used different therapeutic approaches to support persons at different stages of growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

At out first session we will find out what is important to you and for you. It's good to leave the first session with a direction...

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a person, I am non-judgmental which has been a good quality for me as a provider. I know that our histories as persons have been affected by experiences that have happened in obscurity or perhaps a long-time ago. As a provider, my investment is to give you a solid place to start through acceptance of where we are.

My treatment methods

Attachment-based

Counseling can give advice to help solve a problem, but therapy explores the reasons for our behavior that we have pushed aside. Attachment based therapy works to uncover solutions that lay the foundation for the long-term, not just for the moment. Attachment based therapy is a deeper understanding of what a person may discover in CBT.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT will help a person examine themselves and their actions and reactions. Most everyone who seeks counseling will be engaged with CBT as it provides a pathway and a structure to for a person to assess themselves. How do I think? How do I react? and why? CBT is a good counseling that can provide tangible coping strategies for anxiety and depression. I use CBT as the structure of CBT is used as a gateway as persons head into or head away from crisis.

Couples Counseling

Couples Counseling is the greatest therapy a person can bring to themselves. To find growth in your closest connection is to find peace and identity. I have worked with couples for over 10 years. Before you move on from a relationship, let's look at what you are going through. There are reasons why people choose each other. Going through couples counseling is very good for the individuals in the relationship to explore how they got to where they are now, to where they will want to be in the future. Most sessions are with both/all persons but there are times when the individuals in the relationship need individual time to work with me.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)

EFT is how I would deliver an attachment based therapy. EFT is a way of looking at primary emotions, secondary emotions and the way these emotional expressions elicit positive or negative responses in others and then in ourselves. EFT helps to map out the emotional interactions which override and outmatch a person's thought processes. I believe in EFT because it is the gateway to a better understanding of ourselves which helps us grow.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS is the nuts and bolts application of psychodynamic psychology. This type of interaction with me or any therapist is an even more profound (deeper) approach to your well being than Attachment Therapy. When a person enters counseling, there can be immediate concerns to be addressed for a person's stability. When a person feels strong enough, the road to growth goes through Attachment therapy and into IFS. It is good to have a therapist that moves along the continuum of these treatments to help a person to the next level.
