Things can feel out of control and you don’t know how to slow it down. Life can feel like a whirlwind sometimes. Maybe thoughts are irrational, but can’t stop them. Maybe you are starting to realize you might not make the best choices. Maybe you have driven yourself into a state of panic. Maybe your child has hit a breaking point and you don’t know how to help. We can figure this out together. I want to help you achieve that balance you are looking for so you can start living the life you want. I have worked with children and adults for the past 13 years in community mental health, in schools, and in private practice.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I can help retrain your mind to think differently and cope with distress so you can feel more balanced. My training has focused on relieving anxiety, depression and emotional sensitivity by using a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy. I start from a holistic perspective focused on lifestyle. For children, I also use play and art therapy techniques. I know it’s hard to make that first step, but you can do it. You or your family is ready for a change. Because the right fit is one of the best predictors of success in therapy, please reach out and we can talk through it together. My office is in Rabun County and I also provide counseling sessions online.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I think of therapy as a mutual relationship. You know yourself better than anyone and I help unlock that code for you. As a parent, I understand what it is like to feel like you cannot help your child. I specialize in anxiety disorders as I grew up suffering from anxiety and spent the better part of my college years trying to figure out how to overcome it. I help children and adults do the same.

My treatment methods

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective therapeutic approach designed to help individuals heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses on the brain’s natural ability to process and integrate traumatic memories. Through a series of guided eye movements and other bilateral stimulation techniques, EMDR helps to reprocess and desensitize these memories, reducing their emotional charge and allowing for healthier cognitive and emotional responses. EMDR has been extensively researched and is recognized globally for its efficacy in treating a wide range of issues, including PTSD, anxiety, depression, and phobias. Our certified EMDR therapists are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment, guiding you through each step of the healing process. Whether you're dealing with recent trauma or long-standing emotional challenges, EMDR can be a powerful tool in your journey toward recovery and well-being.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a well-established and evidence-based form of psychotherapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns and behaviors. By challenging and altering these unhelpful thoughts, CBT aims to improve emotional regulation and develop healthier coping mechanisms. This structured approach is highly effective in treating a variety of mental health issues, including anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD. CBT is a collaborative process, where our trained therapists work with you to set specific goals and develop practical strategies to address your unique challenges. Through regular sessions and homework assignments, you’ll gain insights into your thought processes and learn skills to manage and overcome your difficulties. Whether you're facing everyday stressors or more severe emotional distress, CBT can provide you with the tools you need to lead a more balanced and fulfilling life.
