I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who specializes in mental health. I am qualified to work with all ages. I love working with the elderly, couples who suffer from PTSD, depression, anxiety, and schizophrenia. I have experience working with the severely mentally ill for more than thirty years. But my passion is the elderly. They do not get the attention they deserve, in my opinion. Considering that they have worked and contributed to society most of their lives.
Clients will expect to be assessed for me to recognize and understand the presenting problem. I will create and review a treatment plan with the client. I will assign brief homework assignments to engage the client in treatment.
My strengths are expressing understanding and compassion for clients. I recognize and understand human behavior along with the DSM 5, which helps me to accurately and assess and diagnose clients.
I implement CBT in my sessions to help change unhelpful or unhealthy ways of thinking, feelings, and behaviors. CBT uses practical self-help strategies. These are designed to immediately improve quality of life.
I use Jungian therapy which helps to develop a greater self-understanding to help the client increase awareness of the unconscious aspects of his/her experiences. As a therapist, I help clients explore experiences from their past and consider how they may be impacting them currently.
I incorporate Motivational interviewing in my sessions to establish a supportive relationship with the client. The goal is to help the client develop a positive attitude towards change. In this way, the client feels empowered to take positive actions in addressing their concerns and needs.
I implement Trauma-Focus treatment modality to help clients develop new beliefs about their trauma, their role in it, and their ability to cope. I introduce skills for them to use when dealing with overwhelming thoughts and feelings as well as how to handle emergencies.
The here-and-now issues that should be the primary focus of supportive therapy are those concerning everyday functioning. In my sessions, I attemt to recognize: How is the client feeling? How is the client is getting along at work, with family, with friends and other life events.
