The greatest skill in life: Asking for help. The most successful people have a team to assist in their decision making and managing priorities. I want to be on your team. Speaking of teams, I referee basketball. This requires an unbiased point of view and thick skin. I cast no judgment and am here to listen to the good, the bad, and the ugly. I am here for you! Therapy is a powerful tool during any change of life circumstances because the changes can be uncomfortable and confusing. This discomfort could surface some negative coping skills. My role is to advocate for your needs, help identify the stressors, and guide you to the best changes necessary to challenge yourself during this trying time. Working in the drug and alcohol field for 10+ years has provided me with the opportunity to work with people from all walks of life relearning how to operate in the world without previous bad habits (substances, codependency, eating disorders to cope again.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Most clients express feeling very anxious before the first meeting and I get that. You are putting yourself out there describing everything going wrong, identifying flaws, and so much more to a complete stranger. That is uncomfortable and can be anxiety provoking. It would be fraudulent to say I have not been in that same position as well. I have been a client too so I get that awkwardness as well. But I am here for you! We can go as light and easy as you need. Usually, we begin with introductions to help understand what brought you to therapy and identify goals. Go over some personal history and most importantly build rapport to get to know each other in order to know if we are a good fit.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have been told that I have a very calming aura about me and I take that as a huge compliment. I am open minded, thoughtful, witty, and eager to help. I love setting goals.

Family Therapy

I believe that even in individual therapy using different family members helps give other points of view on the individual’s struggles. Relationships take lots of work and are reciprocal, what role do you play in your relationships?
