I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with experience supporting diverse clients, including individuals facing mental health challenges, trauma survivors, and those navigating life transitions. My professional background includes work in behavioral health hospitals, crisis intervention, and therapy, where I have helped clients feel comforted, empowered, and supported in achieving their goals. I am passionate about creating a safe and collaborative space for healing, utilizing evidence-based approaches that are tailored to each individual's needs. My aim is to guide clients toward recognizing their resilience and celebrating their growth. Additionally, I incorporate the calming presence of my therapy dog, Nox, into sessions for added support when appropriate. Nox is a therapy dog who has visited local hospitals, schools and organizations within the community.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first therapy session with me, we’ll focus on building a foundation for our work together. Here’s what you can expect: Introductions and Confidentiality We’ll begin by introducing ourselves and discussing the structure of our sessions. I’ll explain confidentiality policies, ensuring you understand that our conversations are private, with certain legal exceptions related to safety. Information Gathering I’ll ask questions to understand your background and current concerns, including: • Presenting Issues: What brings you to therapy? • Personal History: Your family background, relationships, education, and work. • Previous Therapy: Any prior experiences with counseling or mental health services. This process helps me gain a comprehensive understanding of your situation. Establishing Goals We’ll discuss what you hope to achieve in therapy. Setting clear, collaborative goals will guide our sessions and provide a way to measure progress. Therapeutic Approach I’ll describe the therapeutic methods I use, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and trauma-informed care, and how they may be beneficial for you. This discussion will give you an idea of what our sessions will involve and how therapy can address your concerns. Your Questions I encourage you to ask any questions about the therapy process, my experience, or any concerns you might have. This is your space, and understanding the process can help you feel more comfortable and engaged. Next Steps By the end of our first session, we’ll have a clearer picture of your needs and how we can work together to meet your goals. We’ll also discuss scheduling our next appointment and discuss any initial tasks or reflections to consider before we meet again. Remember, the first session is about building rapport and understanding your unique situation. It’s natural to feel a range of emotions, and you aren’t expected to share everything immediately. We’ll proceed at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a provider, my greatest strengths is in my ability to create a safe, empathetic, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and understood. I bring a trauma-informed approach, ensuring sensitivity to each client’s experiences while promoting healing and minimizing re-traumatization. I excel at tailoring therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual, whether through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), strength-based methods, or motivational interviewing. My experience working with diverse populations, including children, teens, adults, military families, veterans, and individuals who have experienced significant life events, has given me the ability to connect with a wide range of clients. I prioritize collaboration, empowering clients to set meaningful goals and fostering growth and lasting change. I’m also dedicated to ongoing professional growth, continuously learning and refining my skills to provide the best possible care. My calming presence, coupled with the support of my therapy dog, Nox, helps create a reassuring environment for clients. I’m passionate about helping clients recognize their strengths and resilience, supporting them as they overcome challenges and move toward a brighter future. My authenticity and genuine care ensure that every client feels valued and supported throughout their journey.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am best positioned to support individuals ages 6 and up who are navigating life’s challenges, including struggles with school, bullying, anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I also have experience working with military families navigating the fast-paced, ever-changing dynamics of military life, as well as veterans adjusting to life outside of the military. Additionally, I support individuals who have lived through major life events and are seeking a compassionate, understanding space to process their experiences. Whether it’s a child learning to manage big emotions, a teen coping with social and academic pressures, or an adult rebuilding after significant life changes, I provide a supportive environment to foster healing, growth, and resilience.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

We will use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns, beliefs, and behaviors that contribute to your emotional distress. Through structured sessions, I will guide you in developing healthier ways of thinking, coping strategies, and actionable goals to improve your well-being. The purpose of CBT is to empower a person to gain greater awareness of the connection between their thoughts, feelings, and actions, enabling them to break negative cycles and foster positive change in their lives. This evidence-based approach is highly effective in treating various mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and stress-related challenges, and can be tailored to meet the unique needs of each person.

Play Therapy

I will incorporate aspects of Play Therapy to create a supportive and expressive environment for younger clients or those who benefit from non-verbal communication. Through the use of play-based activities, I will encourage clients to explore and express their thoughts, feelings, and experiences in a way that feels safe and natural. By integrating elements such as art, storytelling, and role-playing, I can help clients process emotions, build problem-solving skills, and develop healthier ways of coping. The purpose of incorporating aspects of Play Therapy is to support clients in exploring and resolving internal conflicts, fostering self-expression, and strengthening their emotional resilience. This approach is especially beneficial for clients who may struggle with traditional talk therapy, offering them an alternative pathway to healing and personal growth.

Trauma Informed Care

I will integrate Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) by recognizing the widespread impact of trauma and its potential influence on your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. TIC emphasizes creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you will feel empowered and respected. This approach involves understanding trauma’s role in your life without requiring you to disclose specific details, focusing instead on building trust and fostering collaboration. The purpose of Trauma-Informed Care is to avoid re-traumatization while helping you develop strategies to manage triggers, regulate emotions, and strengthen their resilience. TIC also prioritizes your strengths and promotes a holistic understanding of your experiences, ensuring that therapeutic interventions are sensitive to your unique needs and histories.

Strength-Based

We will use Strength-Based Therapy to focus on your inherent strengths, resources, and capabilities as the foundation for achieving your goals and overcoming challenges. This approach emphasizes what is going well in your life, encouraging you to identify and build on your resilience, skills, and positive attributes rather than solely focusing on problems or deficits. The purpose of Strength-Based Therapy is to empower a person by fostering a sense of competence and self-efficacy, helping them recognize their ability to create change and navigate difficulties. By reframing challenges as opportunities for growth, this approach supports clients in developing confidence and motivation to achieve meaningful and lasting progress.

Motivational Interviewing

We will use Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help you explore and resolve ambivalence about making changes in your life. MI is a client-centered, collaborative approach that emphasizes empathy, active listening, and supporting your autonomy. By focusing on your values, goals, and personal motivations, I will guide you toward identifying and strengthening your intrinsic desire for change. The purpose of Motivational Interviewing is to enhance clients’ readiness and commitment to make positive changes, particularly in areas where they may feel stuck or conflicted. This approach is especially effective for addressing behaviors related to health, substance use, and lifestyle changes, empowering clients to take ownership of their decisions and progress at their own pace.
