I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience in mental health and social services. I have many roles as a wife, mother of three, daughter and sister who enjoy crafting, gardening, and spending time at the beach. I understand starting therapy can be scary. No worries. You will set the pace. I offer individualized support to meet your needs sprinkled with humor and a smile. My hope is for you to gain insight into your experiences and to equip you with strategies for coping with life challenges.
In our first session we will get to know each other and learn how therapy works. Our sessions are casual and laid back. If there is an area that you are not ready to address, it is OK. I will wait until you are ready. We will review intake questions and discuss how you want your life to look.
My greatest strength as a therapist is that I genuinely care and I meet you where you are. I listen with no judgement. I understand the challenges we face as a woman of color , the prejudices, and the racial-trauma experienced by many.
You will learn how your distorted thoughts affects your behavior and how to use coping strategies to change your mood/feelings
You will learn how to manage distress in a healthy manner by acceptance of emotions, self-soothing through senses and mindfulness.
We will walk together on your journey to healing. I will listen with no judgment. I will provide you a safe space to be vulnerable. We will work on the hard stuff and celebrate your wins together.
I provide culturally sensitive therapy by focusing on your values and beliefs.
