I was born and raised in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and after finishing graduate school at the University of Denver and receiving my MSW, I returned to Upper Michigan and began providing therapy for a diverse age population including children, adolescents, adults and couples as well as group therapy in 1995. I then moved to Virginia Beach where I contracted with the Dept of Defense providing family and individual therapy at different Naval Bases. I returned home after that time and set up a private practice where I continued to provide therapy for individuals, couples and families in my community until I started working at the VA Medical Center where I worked with veterans, caregivers and their families as a therapist as well as a case manager both in the hospital as well as on the home based team. I am now retired from the VA although I will be to continuing to use my education and trainings to hopefully work with you in this forum. You have already taken the first step to healing by exploring this site and the next step is taking the leap and scheduling the appointment. I hope that my commitment to taking this journey with you and reading a bit about what I may offer will encourage you to give therapy a try.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session, we will get to know one another and begin to formulate a treatment plan that is based on the issues and priorities that you want to work on.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have over 30 years experience working as a therapist with diverse populations. This experience and my education and trainings with evidence based approaches have shown much success over the years.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been utiilzing CBT for therapy for the past 20 years with much success. Some of my trainings using this mode of therapy was working in Family Advocacy Program for the Dept of Defense with Naval families and then in private practice where I worked with children, adolescents, couples and adults as well as families in helping to work through issues with depression, anxiety as well as healing from trauma.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I became certified in CPT while working at the VA Medical Center working with veterans that had symptoms of PTSD. I found this evidenced based treatment method to bring healing for many veterans and others that have had issues with trauma.
