Anxious? Worried all the time? Having panic attacks? Well, you're not alone and I can help! In recent years, anxiety has become one of the most common mental health concerns out there and it can leave you distracted, breathless, overwhelmed and feeling out of control. Symptoms of general anxiety, panic disorders, health anxiety, OCD and PTSD can be difficult to navigate, especially when you feel alone and don't know where to start. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I have been in the counseling field for over 25 years. I've worked in private practice throughout that time but have also worked in the criminal justice and community mental health settings, helping people with anxiety, depression, and addictions. I work primarily with adults using cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I like helping people learn the neuroscience behind anxiety and build skills to manage it better. I love seeing people take back some of the power they feel they've lost to anxiety or helping them see the light at the end of the tunnel in depression or addiction. Taking the first step is one of the hardest, but things can feel better for you.
In our first session together, I'll get some background information about you and you can learn a little about me and the therapy process. We'll talk about what brings you into counseling at this time and begin thinking about the goals you want to work on moving forward.
I think my greatest strengths include a calm demeanor, a positive attitude, a sense of humor and desire to help. Most importantly, I believe people have what they need to bring the changes they want. I love helping people unlock that for themselves.
I've used CBT for over 25 years in my practice as a tool to help address symptoms of anxiety and depression.
Using values to set goals toward your best self is such a positive experience for people.
Sometimes people want to make some changes with big impact and solution focused therapy can do that.
