I'm a bilingual (English / Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Southern California. I obtained my Masters degree from the University of Southern California in 2014 and my license in 2017. I have experience working in outpatient contract community clinics, crisis stabilization programs, and psychiatric hospitals. In 2022, I transitioned to working with only adult clients. I hope to provide a safe space for all my clients to process, heal, gain insight and awareness of limiting beliefs, and develop healthy coping skills to manage any challenges they are facing.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session we will start with an introduction. I will then proceed to gather information on what brings you to therapy (symptoms you are experiencing) and how your symptoms are impacting your overall functioning and wellbeing. We will then collaborate and discuss goals and expectations of therapy. By the end of the session, if we both feel we are a good therapeutic match to work together we will schedule our follow up session.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Being fully present, empathetic, compassionate and transparent allows me to building trust and rapport with my clients.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I've been been using CBT for most of my career. Using CBT provides insight and awareness to unhelpful thoughts, feelings and behaviors, and assists clients with making changes to improve and manage emotional dysregulation and unhelpful thoughts. Some techniques within CBT that I use are behavioral activation, adaptive thinking skills, and mindfulness practice.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I've provided DBT in combination with other modalities of treatment when clients are having difficulty regulating their emotions. Some methods include distress tolerance skills, mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, tracking behaviors, wise mind and radical acceptance.

Grief Therapy

Grief is a natural process in dealing with a significant loss. I've worked with clients who have developed complicated grief after their grief has lasted more than 1 year or has led to depression and anxiety. Some of the techniques I've used include processing the loss, creating self-care goals or routines to adjust to the loss, coming to terms with the loss, identifying how clients can honor and remember their loved one and self-compassion.

Attachment-based

Depending on the needs and goals of the client, as a therapist I assess if the client would benefit from attachment based therapy if they are having difficulty with their relationships (family or themselves), history of trauma with caregivers, and emotional dysregulation. Some of the techniques I've used with adult clients include learning self-compassion, communication skills, and helping clients develop insight on their attachment styles.
