New to Grow
Hi! My name is Jen and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have experience working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use and other mood disorders. I have worked in a variety of settings including schools, hospitals, correctional facilities, and community mental health. I use a holistic and client centered approach. I believe that there is no one size fits all to therapy and I use a collaborative approach with my clients to determine what interventions may be the best fit. Therapy shouldn't be intimidating, and I take pride in creating an open and relaxed space for my clients.
During our first session we will review your intake form together to identify your goals for treatment and treatment modalities we will use. I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in my practice where we will look at how your thoughts affect your emotions and experience. During sessions, I'll help you learn how to push back against those thoughts to change your feelings for the better. I also use a person-centered approach if CBT may not be a good fit and will work with you to come up with a treatment approach that fits your needs.
Working with my clients in a collaborative way makes therapy feel more natural and organic. Providing a safe space, while also challenging you, provides you with an opportunity to continue to do the work outside of therapy and helps you look at things from a different perspective.
I believe therapy should be a collaborative approach at healing and getting well. I strive to make a vulnerable place feel open, warm, and nonjudgmental, while also challenging you when needed to help you achieve your full potential. I have specialized training in perinatal mood disorders, and substance use disorders, as well as other mood disorders.
