I am a licensed clinical social worker. I have been working in the mental health field since 2011. I completed my masters program at The University of Texas at Arlington in 2017. The majority of my experience has been working in an inpatient psychiatric setting with various populations. I also have experience working in the emergency department with individuals in need of crisis interventions. My main focus is to help empower clients with the tools they need to grow and create a life that is gratifying.
In the initial session, we will have more of an intake process. We will take the time to get to know each other. We will discuss the individual's background history, what brought the individual to therapy, and goals that the individual would like to accomplish. Once we have established the background information, a treatment plan can be discussed.
Having worked in this field for several years, I have learned to help individuals be more aware of their feelings and issues that brought them to therapy. I help guide individuals to progression by using various techniques tailored to their needs.
CBT is a type of structured therapy that gives people the skills necessary to identify and change unhelpful thoughts and behaviors that are responsible for maintaining a state of anxiety. I have experience working with individuals with different diagnoses in an inpatient psychiatric setting and in the emergency department who have mental health-related emergencies. Techniques that I find beneficial have been role playing, mindfulness, and unraveling cognitive distortions by identifying and challenging harmful automatic thoughts.
